I agree. Cammi or Tanguay i think gets moved at the draft. It won't be a high pick but another 1st rnd'r in this draft is solid.

The more research i do on these prospects the more I think they should hang on to all their 1sts unless there is a great deal to be had. I also still think they can pull a deal using their large amount of cap space to move up without giving up a 1st.

Heard LAK may be looking for another top 6 forward for next year. Wouldn't it be interesting if the aquire Tanguay and then sign Jarome. I realize they would have to make other moves but still possible. What would the Flames have to add to Tanguay, if anything, to get Bernier? Mid prospect and a 3rd? Salary dump?

- TandA4Flames

cammy or tanguay + the pitts 1st maybe.

Tanguay or Cammy will not pull a first at the draft....not even if the Flames eat a ton of salary. Not in my opinion anyway.
- The-O-G

Cammi would require eating salary but guys capable of 50pnt seasons on bad teams are valuable anyway you cut it. They won't get a top 10 but 20-30 range is certainly possible. Again, that is only my opinion.

I dont dee Cammi going anywhere until the next TDL. Tanguay is a wildcard, not sure he wants to stick around fore rebuild but I dont think he would get a 1st either. I think vets that need to stay are Wideman/Gio/GlenX/Hudler. They are all signed long term to take us through this rebuild.

I would like to see us use our Pitt or Stl 1st + something(assets or salary dump) to target Couturier or Henrique. Would people here feel Gaudreau is untouchable? Philly may want this kid & we give the St Louis pick & Gaudreau for their top 10 pick??? Is that too much?

It would be tough but I think if we could trade Johnny G and 1 of our later picks for Couts (quiet Whipper) and PHI 1st I would do it. It's hurts and it feels risky so it may work for both sides. That said, I think PHI greatest need is cap room which we could certainly help with. Maybe we help there and add a lesser prospect like say Granlund.

I don't think Philly's moving Couturier for anything... but I admire your commitment to the pitch.

Is Granlund less of a prospect than Gaudreau? I would say they are actually pretty close.

Gaudreau's a little more electric... both look very good though.

thats odd....maybe if kipper is looking too good theyre going to pull him.

Kipper pulls the fake "oh I pulled a hammy", and we make like edmonton for the last few games.

For sure. Gaudreau is much more a high risk high reward type prospect. I'm unsure of Granlunds potential though. I know he was not so good to start his season but his coach wasn't playing him to much. Since the WJC he's been much better. I just think a player like Granlund is a bit redundant for this organization. What about a Horak or Reinhart? Are they not a similar ceiling? 3rd line C?

Oiler fans should be ashamed of their team not mocking us about the possibility of picking higher than the Flames again. I'm not shocked that a team of small "skilled" forwards and nothing else can't compete in the west I have been saying it for years when everyone else was saying how good the Oilers would be. Youtube generation see's some nice looking goals and think a player is good but when the player costs the team more goals than he scores you end up losing.

Anyway, hopefully the Flames lose their last three and end up in the bottom 5 but really who knows. The top 3 players in franchise history were 11th overall, 2nd rounder, and what 6th round for theo? In this internet age its all about rankings and bloggers in the basement in their underwear. Time will tell

Okay Jimmy time to get rid of the Buffalo troll in Clouts thread.

If you happen to ban Whipper by accident, that's okay too

You keep chirping the Oil to make yourself feel better.

The Oilers DID bring in some Vets with size and toughness that were supposed to fill out the team. They didn't work out. What do you think Eager, Hordichuck, Belanger were all brought in for? They didn't work. Try again.

Just like the Flames kept "trying" to bring in the last pieces they needed to be a contender. They brought in guys that they thought would do it. It didn't work.

To be fair, though, it was a pretty poor attempt by Tambi. They needed to add some size and toughness into the top 6 and top 4 D. Tough to get I know. I guess in lieu of being able to achieve that, add where you can. I just don't think Tambi tried hard enough; his MO really.

IMO Tambi did exactly what he was brought in to do. Be patient and not make a stupid move. Looking at a lot of the FA deals over the past 3 years, tell me in hindsight which ones would have been good? Virtually all sucked.

We all knew he wasn't going to trade picks away.

Another good game by Baertschi, he has been on a role. And we lost by 1 goal to Nashville... excellent!
