Someone always slips from the top. 2010 it was Cam Fowler sliding all the way to #12. 2011 it was Sean Couturier going to #8. Last year Forsberg and Grigo slipped to #11 and #12 respectively. I wouldn't be surprised if this year Barkov fell to us. And I would be so very excited - TandA4Flames
It'll be Nichushkin that slides to you...Barkov wont get past top 5. |

Sure refreshing watching kids play hockey that are hungry and thankfull being here. - Kevin R
If they werent winning, you would think they were tanking with that lineup they are dresssing.
FAN 960 just said that the 25+ minutes played by Cundari was the most any player had ever played in his first NHL game, is that accurate?
Sucks we are dropping in the draft, but it is fun to watch right now. |

Horvat would be a nice pick but like you said, it's not enough to change a franchise. Either way he's a good guy to add to it |

Most by any flame in their first nhl game. 44 seconds more than Phaneuf
Hedman had over 26 minutes, not sure if Cundari ranks 2nd or there are others ahead... |

I think it'll be Nate. But only to #7, so stop winning hahahaha - mykokes
You seriously think thatMacKinnon will slip to #7?? How do you figure the drafting goes to allow that? |

Yea, but I don't want Nichushkin Althought I do see him slipping unless Stevie Y knows something and takes a flier on him at #3 or #4. |

I'd say Brodie over wideman .... The kid has truley had a breakout year , every game he seems to be getting better and more confident |

Injuries aside, I would give it to Backlund or Brodie. |

If backlund could ever stay healthy I would be curious to see the numbers he would put up over 82 games , he has great hands and sees the ice well but spends half his time coming off injuries |

Backlund=Hemsky - not_that_lanny
I really hope not , but the way things have gone it's hard to argue against that until he puts together full seasons |

I would definitely have to agree on that one, although I could see some positions change, depending on Team need, but in general it should be pretty straight forward. If Nichuskin does slide, I still don't see it being as far as 7th. |

I think he could though. I see Colorado, T Bay, Carolina, Edmonton, Philly all wanting D men. Jones, Nurse, Zadorov could all go before Nichushkin.
As of today:
Florida-MacKinnon
Colorado-Jones
TBay-Nurse
Nashville-Drouin
Carolina-Zadorov
Edmonton-Barkov

5 more years of drafting like this and the Oilers might be competative, that is a big might though |

One of the worst 4 years runs in the history of the league. The only thing that this team is good at tanking, they have that down to an art.
The entire "win the draft lottery" excitement must getting old, even for die hard Oiler fans, no?

I don't think that we as Flames fans are in any position to look down at the Oilers, or any other team for that matter. |

Have to disagree.
Nash, Carolina, Edm, Phi are just lifeless right now.
As much as I hate that they will miss a top pick again, at least its because they didn't give up.
Hopefully the new kids can carry it through into a new season and through a few years of retooling, there isn't going to anyone saving the franchise at draft this year it looks like. |

Pretty sure we can look down our nose at the Oilers. For all their talk and high draft picks they have barely improved and have shown no passion or heart during the entire rebuild.
The Flames lacked heart all year until they brought the kids up, and these kids, unlike the Oilers kids, are playing like they actually care about winning vs the annual tank job the Oilers kids pull every year. |
