And he's on our top 2 lines for the entire season.
- theblueandgold

I blame staff for that as well

ott should be third liner with second team pk and pp duties

and he has been one of my favorite players of the game since the briere drury days

where was the safe players on that list?

ott improves this team on the dot, on pk, physical, locker room, and with the young kids

if ennis and coho were centers that can handle the top 2 lines throughout the duration of a season, it would not be an issue

ennis is off the dot due to poor play from wingers (staff for the most part with an inconsistent foligno)

- homiedclown

Derek Roy was a 50% (average) face off taker in Buffalo, who took more than 1000 faceoffs (average) a season. Steve Ott doesnt take that many faceoffs.

We get Steve Ott on our team, and our PK suddenly drops to near dead last...

Is he better in the locker room? Do you know that for sure? You're in the locker room?

....You think that will help him? Once most of these vets are gone he'll get his playing time. He's still really young I wouldn't really worry about him till he's 21 or 22.
- Sabresfan-365
True but at the same time it doesn't hurt to see what the kids got plus it could be a confedence booster going in to next season.

I have no problem with Ott on the team. But by trading Roy for Ott, we decreased our depth on the top 6. Ott should not be on the top PP unit or the 1st line. He's a great 3rd line, 2nd PP guy that can take key draws. Him having to be more than that is not a good thing IMO

I also dont have a problem with Ott. But when we were short on depth without Roy, I dont know why they thought giving him up would make our team better with one player who has 1 year remaining on his ELC and another who just came off his ELC left for our centers.

Did you know that Dallas led the NHL in minor penalties taken last year. And the Sabres up until last week led the league in minors this year. Ott being on the ice more is part of the reason for that

I think they grab a starter

Milliner, Warmack Cooper, or Austin

this is one time I think they should trade back

when they signed Kolb and extended jackson, IMO they decided not to take a qb with the first pick

didn't they sign Kolb after the Geno workout?

Ott is one of the worst puck possession forwards on the team and he's playing big minutes and PP minutes . WGR did a report that he was the 2nd worst forward at possessing the puck on the entire team
- sbroads24

is all we care about puck possession these days?

So are you saying you'd rather have Roy than Ott?

IM in favor of trading down every year.
ATL and SF have some picks to trade up for a CB or any 1 player they need.

EJ Manuel is rising. They might end up taking him at 8. It wouldn't shock me

I just dont know about him..I hear he plays when when he feels like it, and that's not all that often.

Really skilled, but not very driven.

No that's not what I'm saying. And yes when your team sucks and you rank last in a specific category I don't think it's a coincidence. I like Ott, but he's IMO nothing more than a 3rd borderline 2nd line winger that has been playing 1st line minutes much of the year. That becomes an issue when your a team that rarely has the puck on your stick

It's not a bogus stat when your a horrible puck possession team IMO. I love Ott, but we traded a Perennial 2nd line center for a career 3rd line winger. It's not that big of a suprise our team sucks
- sbroads24

there are 17 other skaters on the ice besides Ott that can help with puck possession.
