How long did it take you to come up with a list of players that just about any team would have wanted on their team?
That's like saying, my goaltending is bad. I need Patrick Roy on this team. - HonkFortheGoose
To be fair, I'd rather hear him call for Patrick Roy as a goaltender than call for him as the next coach of this team. |

That's awesome.
And I agree. Not sure why some people think he's the most logical choice. I'd rather have a guy that's got some sort of Assistant NHL experience or a head coach of an AHL team that's had a decent amount of success. |

People are in love with Ott.
We are one of the most penalized teams we were not last year.
We are one of the worst teams at killing penalties.
Ott is a nice player but not the player that is needed to win right now. |

sorry Scott has 52 penalty minutes and most of them are fights thus not putting the sabres short handed.
Stick to checking facts first. Or maybe you would like to report me? |

We can't get all the pieces at the same time . He IS a good piece to have . He has 10 more pims than Kaleta but 10 more games.
also a worthless stat +4
This team will be better going forward as long as the right other pieces are added. |

They are still considered penalties, are they not? So when you make a general statement, you need to take that into account. |

Being penalized often goes hand in hand for a lot of things. I think the biggest factor is the zone time, which the Sabres haven't have enough. The more you don't have the puck, the more you are running around chasing, which leads to more penalties. I think that is the biggest factor. That being said, the one Ott just took was pretty dumb. |

god, you guys are still on this topic hours later?
Ott is a much better third liner then Roy is for the second line
Ott brings so much more to the younger kids on the team then any of the suck sisters
if your GM can build a strong D core and get mature productive players for the top two lines, then the Sabres win the trade
Roy was a consistent point scorer with a ton of potential, but did not live up to the hype as a sabre. I applaud him for his rehab to get ready for game 7 vs the flyers. Off the ice, he did little to impress the younger players or earn respect.
If Darcy or the next GM does not make the strong moves needed, Ott is a waste as a Sabre, regarding future post season success with him on the team.
But Ott does leave a much better impression for the young and will continue for the future sabres next season.
Given the years of the suck sisters, it was a good move for the team moving forward. I wish it would have been staff instead of roy but it was a shot that this team needed. Now lets a GM that can finish firing off that round.

Last week were the most minor penalized team in the NHL . Ott is the reason for that |

Enroth's problem before recently wasn't that he didn't win a game in 15 months. It's that he only played in 15 games in 15 months. |

Yeah, he has a lot, but I would think that Ehrhoff and Myers being right behind him haven't helped the cause either. You can't just pin it on one guy. So Ott has 22 this year. Myers has 15 in less games. Ehrhoff has 16.
Ott's sometimes are because he's trying to stir things up. It just backfires sometimes.
He does have an issue with taking penalties at stupid times, but so does Vanek. |

I think he is. He is an agitator that can score, draws penalties, hits, licks people. We also have Kaleta and Scott so they are contributing to penalties too.
I hate comparing Ott and Roy. I think we decided we were going to trade Roy last year, and we were just looking for something useful for him. Nobody was going to give us a top-6 scorer for him. His previous year wasn't good and he had an injured shoulder. Would have been nice to get another scorer on a separate deal to replace some of his points, but we didn't. We thought Foligno and Stafford would get better but they regressed. |
