He is a piece the team has lacked . He wasn't sposed to be Roys replacement. He was an asset the team didn't have . I would rather have Ott helping with all these young kids than Roy teaching them the hockey way. - cabin
I'd rather have a bonafide top 6 forward worth building around than either of those two.

I agree. Otts grit and work ethic are not a dime a dozen. Glad we have him going forward with the skill coming up. - cabin
They don't have any young kid in this system that has the potential to dominate a game except maybe Grigorenko, but I have a feeling Galchenyuk-Yakupov-Grigorenko is like the 2004 NFL Draft: Manning-Rivers-Losman, and Grigorenko is Losman. Until they get someone that at least has the potential to dominate the game, a Steve Ott does very little for you.

I think Grigorenko is going to be a really good player

Gionta, really? - Homer
Gionta is not, and never was elite. However, Brodeur, Niedermayer, and Stevens all were one of the best if not the best at what they did. The Devils won with talent, just at different positions than at forward.

Ugh...I hate that I am sounding like I'm defending Derek Roy. Trading Roy was a great move. Not getting someone to replace him, however was the problem.
