that stat is almost as bogus as +/- IMO

a lot of that is from trying to work hard and make something happen

w/o looking, I am sure the safe players like hecht, staff and pommer have the good numbers for that stat and the workers like gerbe, coho, ennis and ott have the worst numbers

He is better than Derek Roy, and yes, advanced stats would help that argument.

Derek Roy was a 50% (average) face off taker in Buffalo, who took more than 1000 faceoffs (average) a season. Steve Ott doesnt take that many faceoffs.

We get Steve Ott on our team, and our PK suddenly drops to near dead last...

If Roy were here. When Hodgson was putrid defensively and they wanted to send him a message and demote him to the 4th line for a game, Roy would have been able to step up on that line and they would still have posed a threat, instead with our lack of top 6 depth, Hecht was moved up. I know that's a small example but I'm sure others could be made. I love Ott and really love watching him put his body on the line every night, but I think it's not a good thing when he's moved up the lineup and plays 20 min some nights
