Does the new CBA dictate that they will even if he hangs it up?
- BobbySchmautz

Doesn't the cap hit still apply?

Yes, stuck with the cap hit no matter what. Goal was to eliminate retirement contracts and if you don't use one of your compliance buy outs on a player your stuck. So, despite how good Kovy is now, that contract could be a killer in a few years. 12 years left on it.

That's the crazy thing about the new CBA. It is going to force teams to buy out productive players on long term contracts because they just can't take the chance of getting stuck with a bad long term cap hit. Everyone has until next summer to make their decisions on amnesty buy outs. That is why Brad Richards is almost a guaranteed buy out for the Rangers, even if he bounces back next year.

And with that the Rangers move up to 7th by virtue of ROW. Many have made the assumption that the Sens would be in the playoffs. Not so fast. Tomorrow night is a big big night.

almost think Sens have to play Erik Karlsson if he is close to 100 percent, but hope they don't for his sake

I would hope for his sake they don't take a silly risk for such a short term gain. They have something going with that developing core and he is the centerpiece. I wouldn't play with that at all. But you're right, that may be their best shot.

Statistically, 6th is actually the most likely spot for the Rangers. 40% 6th place. 33% 7th place. 17% 8th place.

I didnt realize they had a better shot statistically at 6. I know the Jets played the Rangers well this year but that was a different Rangers team they beat and although Washington is playing really well I think the Rangers could beat them. I don't like wishing for an opponent cause it could always bite you in the you know where, but if you asked me did i rather the Rangers play Washington or Boston I gotta say Washington.

If Washington's thrid, yes.

If its Peg, i want no part of them. I like our chances with the bruins, but just get two points tomorrow night, and get in.

Yea ultimately as long as they get in, that's what's most important.

I'd prefer bruins-jets-Habs-caps-pens in that order.

I think we're gonna be 7 so I may get my wish. We play Boston very well

If we get the 7th seed, I want Montreal. That team is young and ripe to be had. boston is tough, strong and can out work us on the boards. Plus who wants to face Chara?

a win tonight and a Jets regulation loss and we are in the playoffs for the 7th time in the 8 seasons since the first lockout.

And, if we get a clutch shootout goal, we would have made the playoffs in every single one of them.

Putting those dark years of 7 straight years of no playoffs way behind us.
