That was only for the wackos that wanted a new coach

But seriously, i was thinking out of the box because if they did make a change I didn't really like the options for us. But forgot bout the illness of slats.

It's all moot as we all know torts is getting at least 50 games into next year

- Slimtj100

TJ, I was just messing with you. But, I think we should all just call a truce on this Torts stuff, and stop bringing it up until after this season is done. Good game, and all the pro-Torts people are looking for validation. Bad game, just the opposite.

Let's just stop and start pulling in the same direction here.

Brad Richards has definitely earned his roster spot next year.

It really doesn't matter how productive he is, I don't see how his contract isn't our other amnesty buyout next summer.

- jimbro83

Yea the Rangers don't need to use a buyout this summer IMO. Richards will be here next year. Unless he goes out and contends for the Hart trophy next season there is a good chance he will be bought out in the summer of '14

Guys, am I crazy to believe that a Devils fan should be real nervous about Kovalchuk's contract. The guys over there don't seem to be the least bit concerned about it. It must be nice not to worry.
- Pete V

That's because they've all been indoctrinated by the cult leader they know as "Uncle Lou". No contract that he gives a player is ever bad. They were all seduced long ago and there is no turning back.

I hate that aspect of this new CBA. Assuming Richards has a resonably successful bounce back year next year, I hate the idea of having to buy him out, because this new CBA is just stupid.

yeah, enough with him being coach of the year the day after a win and he should be fired the day after every loss.

It's very irritating

All these games are so big for the Rangers, that you can't blame Torts for not playing a player that he's not comfortable with putting on the ice. You can, however, blame the organization (including Torts if he's part of the decision making process) for not just leaving him in Hartford.
- Pete V

100%. I was saying that all along.

I just don't understand how he was so unbelievable in the playoffs last year and so bad this year. Like wtf happen?

I really think a full NHL training camp is what he needs. Something he hasn't had, unlike Stepan.

I think Kreider's lack of production for Connecticut all year during the lockout is a huge red flag.

I am not saying that putting Kreider on the 4th line with Powe and Asham makes any sense, it's kind of nutty, but I am just not sure at all of Kreider's blue chipness

- jimbro83

I'm not blaming Torts 100% for Kreider''s struggles. Kreider has to man up and get his ass in gear. But Torts has say for the players he wants on the roster, playing Miller and Kreider on the 4th is dumb. However, Kreider needs to start showing why the Ranger made him a 1st round pick.

It really is unbelievable. Not the least bit concerned. They are really in a spot with that guy. They can't buy him out, because the cost of doing so would be astronomical, and they can't trade him, because noone in their right mind would take that contract. They are stuck with him until he is 43 years old, and he was only on pace to score 24 goals this year.

He didn't have that in the playoffs, and he jus was flat out good. His slow start in Hartford had to get into his head. But he's the only one wgo can fix that. The content bouncing between Hartford and NYC, didn't help though.

Kreider has great physical attributes. He's got great speed and a very good shot. But, to me, he's one dimensional. He doesn't do alot of things well, which is perhaps the result of him not playing as much hockey as some of the guys that go the Midget to Junior path. High School to College is just not the best path for a player looking to play early. To me the question for him, is does he have the hockey sense to be a top shelf NHL player, or will he just be serviceable.

Next year is a big year for him.

I don't know why writers keep saying Powe will be the one to sit when Dorsett's ready, I'd sit Asham. Powe's got more quickness and PK ability, while Dorsetts just a better all around player than Asham.

He really should've stayed there the whole year, but they were so hard up for goals with struggling players, lack of top 9 forwards, etc I think they had no choice but to try him here. Since the trades he really isn't needed which is why it's so confusing he's in there right now. Haley or Newbury would probably better serve the teams needs to be honest.

In other news, Zucc and clowe have really settled the trouble at the wings very very nicely. Moore has really settled the D too. Brassard has added the bit of skill they needed. Those trades really have helped us big time. And I'm happy for gaborik and have forgiven him I'd love for him to have success in the playoffs this year

These things have a way of sorting themselves out. There could be another injury by the time Dorsett is ready.

Sometimes it seems Kreider is cheating to get out in transition before finishing his defensive assignments. He's too quick to need to do that. He tends to look a little confused out there at times. That said, his physical gifts could really help again in the playoffs.

I think it depends on where Fasth, Miller and Lindberg are in terms of grabbing spots. But yeah I'd like to have him around another year.

Anytime jersey had success yesterday the 4th line was out there. It's not all kreiders fault but he does run around out there. Asham didn't help

What's boyles status? Mum? Haven't heard. I know he sucks but he is important at times. PK could miss him down the road.

Ideally since pyatt has played decently of late, a playoff 4th line could be powe-Boyle-Dorsett.

Me too. But things will be tight with the cap going down next year. I think Zucc needs to come back. You have to think they have the intention of resigning Clowe. Then there's Stepan, Hags, and McD. It'll be tight bringing them all back. I think Richards deserves another year, but buying him out this summer would do a lot for our cap situation.

I didn't like the Clowe trade at first, though he was past his shelf life. Brassard and Moore have been great. Espescially Moore. I didn't know he could skate this well.

After the RFAs they should have about 3-4m to play with, but I'd like to see them get another dman who can shoot and play on the PP. Moore and DZ aren't there in terms of running one. Maybe another forward like Raymond to add more offensive depth. Find a way to lose 2 of Asham, Boyle or Pyatt. Definately Asham with Dorsett now in the mix.
