The Selke is nothing more than a beauty contest IMO.... The same closed circle of players is nominated every year..... I think Stepan is very deserving of a nomination as well as Pascal Dupuis.... both have very similar stats..... Stepan with more points and playing the more valuable center position Dupuis with a better +/- and more even strength points.

And sadly I bet both are left off the finalist list for the likes of Datsyuk and Bergeron.

Datsyuk and Bergeron are effin good, however

probably better off, if Stepan won the Selke that would probably put him in 6 million a year range.

Stepan has more points than guys like Joe Thornton, Daniel Sedin, Zetterberg, Parise, Vanek, Perry, Elias, Carter, Eberle and RNH.

and Stepan is virtually the same age as Kreider, but Torts hates kids and they can't develop under Torts.

Weren't you talking about bringing a cancer stricken Glen Sather down from the bench to coach the final 6 games of the year, or am I thinking about a different guy?

@TravisHeHateMe: Pittsburgh not dressing following: Marc-Andre Fleury, Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang, James Neal, Paul Martin, Beau Bennett.

Interesting, if you are the Pens who would you rather play in round 1...Ottawa or Rangers? They could be making a big mistake by helping to keep the Rangers in the 8th seed.

The best hope for Winnipeg and Ottawa losing is against the Caps who are still fighting for the division. I doubt Buffalo who's pretty much packed it in, beats a fired up Winnipeg team who'll come out firing tonight. And Toronto winning against Ottawa was actually a good thing, since the Sens are closer to the Rangers..Toronto is out of reach now.

Guys, am I crazy to believe that a Devils fan should be real nervous about Kovalchuk's contract. The guys over there don't seem to be the least bit concerned about it. It must be nice not to worry.

This is just me but part of Kreider's problem is that he's seems soft, mentally. Granted Torts doesn't help the kid by giving 4 to 8 minutes of playing time per game. But Stepan seems to have a mental toughness to him that most players his age don't. I think Miller also has that same kind of mental toughness.

I'd probably rather play the Rangers, especially if Staal is out and Karlsson and Spezza come back.

I know that everybody wants to avoid Pittsburgh for obvious reasons in the first round, there is just something about it that I wouldn't mind taking them on right away.

It would be awesome to knock them off on the first round after all the trades they made to try and win this year.

I have an allergic reaction to the Penguins. Too many bad experiences over the years with playing that team, and perhaps that's the reason why I want to avoid them.

Considering every rival fan and their brother were saying Ricahrds contract was turning into an albatross. Must suck now that the shoe is on the other foot.

Kreider is slowly starting to get more engaged physically. His slow progression definitely left us all dissappointed this year. Once Dorsett is ready he will sit. The key for him will be next year. If he can't make this team with a full training camp then I will start to worry about him.

I think Kreider's lack of production for Connecticut all year during the lockout is a huge red flag.

I am not saying that putting Kreider on the 4th line with Powe and Asham makes any sense, it's kind of nutty, but I am just not sure at all of Kreider's blue chipness

You might be able to catch them off guard a little, especially if all their injuries haven't returned. Montreal though less talented is a tougher matchup because of the Bell Centre woes. All in all I'd rather face Washington but the #6 is probably not likely.

All these games are so big for the Rangers, that you can't blame Torts for not playing a player that he's not comfortable with putting on the ice. You can, however, blame the organization (including Torts if he's part of the decision making process) for not just leaving him in Hartford.

That was only for the wackos that wanted a new coach

But seriously, i was thinking out of the box because if they did make a change I didn't really like the options for us. But forgot bout the illness of slats.

It's all moot as we all know torts is getting at least 50 games into next year

They are both coming off of major injuries though. Will they be at 100% right away?

An 8th seed with a very dominant goalie in Hank...I wouldn't want a part of that in round 1

Brad Richards has definitely earned his roster spot next year.

It really doesn't matter how productive he is, I don't see how his contract isn't our other amnesty buyout next summer.
