Tradable and expendable - yes. The future #2 center in Chicago - no. Just when Pirri leaves could rest on the outcome of various scenarios involving multiple players.

But first of all realize that although improvement in skating and in other areas of his game, Pirri does not fit in nearly as preferred for a team blessed with a lot of team speed. And Pirri is not good enough in face offs.

Where does Stalberg and Bolland land next season? Is either Shaw or Kreuger going to develop into a #3 center next season.

You have Danault, McNeil, Nordstrom on the horizon. Each skates better. Danault and Nordstrom are better than Pirri on face offs. McNeill an all terrain, Danault could be an energy forward, and Nordstrom is a defensively solid good skater with descent skill. That is their calling card most likely as role players and on a #3 or #4 line in their freshman NHL days. When is that day....maybe late next year or later. And perhaps they aren't going to be putting points up soon, but later they have the projection to contribute offensively.

Pirri on the other hand is too one dimensional. Offense only. He has to be really good to hold the #2 center job. Another candidate for that job could be Leblanc. So yeah, Wiz, with one yr left on his contract Pirri does have a friendly cap hit if his salary is needed on the NHL roster. He can produce points if he plays with top six linemattes....so could Morin but both are a tad slow and I prefer skating speed whenever possible.

So when is Pirri traded? Who knows....not even Bowman knows yet how the roster shakes out after the playoffs and through training camp next fall.

Sure Bowman would like to get some 2013 picks back. Teams would probably rather give their 2014 picks, however, as everyone knows the quality and quantity of quality picks in 2013 is more desirable. It is just ironic that a player can win the AHL scoring title and yet he is not a good fit as could be for a center ice job in Chicago.

You can only hold on to prospects for as long as you can manage their salary and development on the ice. While we would like to think a prospect pushes a roster player for a job when the prospect is ready to replace someone at the NHL level, the team's economic situation may force Bowman's hand

So yes Pirri is tradable...but when/ for what? Time will tell.

The last five winners of the leading scorer title in the AHL: Jason Krog (2008), Alexandre Giroux (2009), Keith Aucoin (2010), Corey Locke (2011) and Chris Bourque (2012).

What do these players have in common? Here, let me help you with that...they are not NHL quality players. Do you find any irony as to why these players are not in the NHL? Seriously, I'd love to hear the answer to this one.

So what's the deal? Is this all you do? The constant regurgitation of what you see posted here by others along with the short summaries of the "puff pieces" you find on the team websites does not make you some sort of self-proclaimed expert.

That's pretty evident with the pandering to the rest of everyone in here, especially with your game of "musical chairs" with you opinions of Olesz last week, which consisted of stating he should never play again to avoid risk of injury in order to be bought out to whatever EKolb said in less than 24 hours. Then, a few days later you come back with some spew about how you didn't understand that the Olesz thing was a joke. Seriously, do you have a thought of your own?

Before you retaliate with the idea that I'm some sort of expert, I'm not. I just sit in the stands and enjoy my team. I also give an opinion of what I see, whether I'm right, or wrong, or if anyone agrees with me or not. That's all.

If all you're doing is trying to hijack a blog thread with your own piss poor attempt of a blog of your own, might I suggest the myhockeybuzz option on this site. You can post your crap there, and I won't have to read it. You can start your own personal fiefdom by doing that and pretend to be an expert. Otherwise, hit the effing quote button and actually engage in a discussion for once.

I thought 5 losses was possible on the first nine game road trip so here is to a season of 44 games and only 5 losses in regulation.

We all can find things to complain about but hell of a season.
Hoping Crawford does play well because I am one of the few who is not an
Emery fan.

Congrats to Pirri for winning the AHL scoring race and the surprise of the year for me has been the play of Saad and Leddy

- PEIHawkFan

You nailed it with every sentiment [edit: except re: Ray] I was hoping the first western swing was not going to end with a losing record. To see this team go this abbreviated season to this point with 5-regulation losses, especially considering that they haven't had a whole helluva lot to play for this last month, is awe-inspiring. This team has turned, what everyone thought was going to be A ROUGH start for the NHL post-lockout, into something even SI was forced to take note of. Finish this off with a Cup and end this story right. This team, this town, this fan base, this organization and this sport, deserve it --noticed I left off NHL. As a long suffering Chicagoan and fan, I can say I'm loving it so far... I hope they get some spot rest for some guys as the season winds down and we see a lot of Brookbank, Bollig and Carcillo, and they show a low tolerance for chippy play against our guys. No stat padding by anyone to close out. Just sound, fundamental, three-zone hockey for sixty minutes. Take the wins and losses and get ready for the push for the cup.

Marcus Kruger . . .

I know I have been pumping this guy's tired for four years now—except for saying Bowman was anointing him 2C a little early on in 2011 . . .

I am continually AMAZED at how good he is along the wall, at barely 180 pounds, and still basically a boy physically.

It's easy to take for granted that he is what he is now that he's been around for two years. But there is still some upside here.

Esplen: I expect to see two teams tonight that will be looking to send a message to each other. Because of that I think you need to have Kassian with the twins for the full 60 minutes to discourage and minimize the cheap shots against them. I also like playing Kassian for 18+ minutes tonight in order to soften up Chicago.

Was he practicing the softening part while in the minors for his back injury?

I guess being a rookie in a large market team that can place high expections on what you "can be," and play you on the first line, can you show you have the quick feet and shot to actually thrive there?...OH, sorry, that was Saad.

If they they play that big stiff on the first line, better to fly around you, my dear!

You have to put the fanboy stuff to the side, and say, why would a smaller Buffalo team just decide they didn't want to attempt to develop Kassian?
And the wrong answer would be the appeal of Cody Hodgson just too tempting?

Or the Sabres already decided the wheels and stop & starts were never gonna find their way into his skill set...

Oh, Ian, and while I am on the subject, anyone who tries to compare the over-all abilities and skill sets of Frankie Corrado and Dougie Hamilton in the opening article to their blog doesn't deserve to have a blog, imo.

I really hope Hawks win at least 2 of the final 4 games. I don't see the Pens losing again in the regular season. I think we just need 4 points to clinch the president's trophy. I know it has a curse and I would like to sit some people out to get ready for the Real season, but it would be cool to win it.

It isn't just NBC. You hear it from everyone. For some reason people view him as a great leader and captain. Guess now we know why there are so many cheapshots in the league now and a Total lack of respect. Doan is a cheap piece of crap

For Qualified Goalies

17th in Wins
9th in GAA
6th in Save %
21st in Games played
tied for 1st in SO

This while splitting time with Lu and dealing with that media distraction. Also did you know that he is also one of I believe only 2 goalies to have a .925 sv % or better for his first 3 seasons. If he was on the hawks I can only imagine how his numbers would be judging how both Crawford and Emery did since they are very average goal tenders.

- SMP8719

I really do not for the life of me understand how all of Vancouver can suddenly think this kid is already this elite goaltender?

A few seasons in and every shooter has a book on him, and he is also average...PERIOD.

Very average is my assessment of him...

Stress from dealing with having to share the job?

Sounds like time off...and less stress.

My post about Pirri's place on the Blackhawks next season contained original thoughts. I gave his point production this year because it added to the context of the thread in a meaningful way. While I follow the players development before they are drafted, I have not the opportunities to see CHG prospects play in the AHL as often as I have in previous seasons. There are plenty of intelligent posts and everything gets covered if one wades through all the pages on this board. So when I do post in the future on a less frequent basis, I will use the quote button EKolb.

If you feel the need to lecture more or especially try to condescend, it is not necessary on this board. Maybe your wife and dog would like to join your discussion

No I wouldn't go that far. Close, though. just a symbol for what people think a good leader is. Obviously Toews is very high on the list. People think just because he will sometimes fight and stick-up for teammates that is what makes u a great leader. And a great leader will stick-up for teammates, but also shouldn't engage in cheapshots. At least I don't think so. Then again I thought of trading kane so that shows what I know.

Okay, way to avoid the issues.

You still haven't fired of any sort of retort to defend yourself, other than some spew about some high road you're taking (that doesn't exist...) and a smart-assed comment pertaining to my wife and the dog I don't own.
