Well of course we want them to win the Cup. What would be the point of listing that and then the other options as if someone would vote for those? Is someone seriously going to vote for Brooks Orpik leading the league in shots over winning the Cup? I'm sure the poll was meant for what awards or accolades, besides the ultimate one, you would like to see the team or a player get.
Jackass Edwards should be ashamed of himself. Sounds like something stupid Mark Madden would say. I think Edwards was shoved in a locker room one too many times in high school. What a moron. - acdc1206
We all rip Steiggy and Errey quite a bit and for the most part, for good reason. They get railed by fan bases outside of Pittsburgh like you wouldn't believe as well. That said, they would NEVER say anything like what Edwards said regarding Cooke. I don't give a poop if he apologized, that isn't good enough. He should be suspended. I think NESN should say that was unacceptable behavior. |

There are people we see who defy logic. I understand homers and their appeal, really no problem. Up till now I considered him harmless. Unfortunately his threats crossed a line. I no longer find him amusing. His fan base will probably remain loyal. They can have him. |

Edwards is so over-the-top, it's just laughable listening to him. He's better suited to call pro wrestling. |

I agree he was laughable and I laughed along as well. Homers gotta be homers. This was just different, mean spirited and vicious. Not funny anymore. |

Jordan Staal
REGULAR SEASON GP 44 G 9 A 19 P 28 +/- -19
Brandon Sutter
REGULAR SEASON GP 44 G 11 A 5 P 16 +/- +2
I'll accept that trade any day when you're adding a #8 overall pick in Derrick Pouliot and a good future depth d-man in Brian Dumoulin.
Jordan's +/- is terrible right now.. - Orpik44
I wonder if Staal is regretting his decision. He has his bigger role and the pressure that goes with it and it hasn't gone very well. Yes he gets to play with his brother, but lets be honest, most people never get to work with family members. If I had a choice of consistently being successful or working with a family member with less success, I'd choose success every time. It's not he won't be able to see his brother for months at a time in the off-season.
I like Staal a lot, but 6 mil was too much for him. He always had trouble stepping up when Sid or Geno went down. I think in years to come, we'll be very happy he chose to move on.

He drove puck possession like no-one else, but I always saw him as an opportunistic scorer not a real constant threat. I don't think his totals are ever going to approach a PPG without being surrounded by serious playmaking talent. |

You know what madmike?Staal is a very good player but he's not worth above $5M, no way in hell. That's why i wasn't so sad when he left to Carolina. He's a perfect fit in PITT for $4-4.5M though. Wish him good luck but wish even better luck to Sutter |

I could care less Edwards opinion of any of our players. Let him run his mouth on Boston's telecast!!! I don't listen to so I could care less! I've seen how much Cooke has changed. The guy pulls up at least once a game these days. |

I have to agree with Jack Edwards here. The only thing Matt Cooke is dedicated too is trying to end the careers of players that are better than him. He should have been removed from the league a long time ago and replaced with someone who actually has some respect for his fellow players. |

You're being an idiot, just like Jack was on saturday. Still sorrow about the accident with Karlsson. Your GM is a joke of a person. |

Just heard the Edwards commentary. Outrageous stuff. I hear Sirhan Sirhan is suing for defamation of character after being compared to Cooke. |

Still bitter over a play on Karlsson that he didn't try to injure the superstar? Grow up and start learning the game. |

Should be a chippy game tonight. I'm not so worried about it with most sitting out to begin with. Not to mention I think this team is pretty gritty and physical enough to get involved in rough stuff with anyone. Not like Ottawa is loaded with tough guys. Morrow iggy Murray engelland borts Mac glass Adams vitale are all willing to go whenever and with whomever. Good luck proving your point tonight sens. Better off trying to just get the 2 PTs against this watered down line up. |

I'd let Big Mac and Engelland take all the fight invitations. But I guess Neil would run away from them.
I wouldn't dress Crosby/Malkin/Neal/Letang AND Cooke....this game doesn't mean much. Hope we beat the hell out of them anyway. |

That should be the Sens' perspective too. They are not in a position to run around and turn this into a fight filled contest. Their in 7th now but could easily be in 9th by the weekend.
Have to imagine there will be some additional interest in the game too by the league office tonight. |

Playoffs should be their focus but just listening to the comments of their owner it appears vengeance is important. They lose this and they likely get a 4 game series with us or miss playoffs all together. Like I said however they want to play it we are more then willing. |

It would be cool to see them miss the playoffs, even after the return of Karlsson...but I find that really unlikely. They are a determined group even after all their injuries. |

I'm guessing Chris Neil doesn't make it out of the 1st period. But then again, that joke of a hockey player waited until the last minute of the game to go after Cooke last time.

I'm sorry to say Letang will probably get the Norris and consequently we'll have to pay him big bucks.
Looking at the Individuals Stats, he's almost the equivalent of Crosby in this league, but in his position (as far as points go)
Letang has 34pts in 32 gms +13
Subban 36pts in 39 gms +9
Suter 32pts in 45 gms +0
I truly believe Kris will surpass Subban in scoring.
I know the Norris isn't about "points only" but he's just very good in many aspects of the game.
If only Paul Martin was playing (and I mean that), this would have been a good fight |
