we've played ~ half a normal season so i will reserve judgement on the trade for another full season, but luke deserves a lot of credit for playing w/in himself and limiting his mistakes. his decision making has really improved and he's well on his way to fulfilling the potential he displayed when he was drafted. we knew about his physicality and ability to eat up huge minutes. def a good news story this yr.

Nope, nothing wrong with changing your mind about a trade. My initial reaction when the trade was first made, was different from what my opinion is of the trade now. He's a poster that offers frequent criticism of the GM. And frequent criticism of the JVR trade very recently. It seems as though his opinion is changing. And I just simply asked if that was the case.

The Russian newspaper report stemmed from an open forum meeting between Sibir's GM and local fans. People asked questions about various players on the team (mostly on who will or won't be back) and it was stated that the team didn't know if Zaitsev would be back for next season because the Flyers had made him a contract offer.

The Flyers have denied the report , so we'll see.

Zaitsev is trying to earn a spot on the Russian team for the World Championships (odds of him making it aren't too good), so if he does sign with an NHL team, it may not be until May.

He is definitely interested in the NHL, and the Flyers may not be the only team with interest. He attended the Rangers prospect camp each of the two previous summers.

the arrow is looking up on that trade for the flyers, but like i posted, let's evaluate the trade over a regular schedule before i give a definitive either way. if JVR becomes wheeler w/ more goal scoring capability...

let's not forget- this team had trouble scoring and getting the puck moved quickly out of the zone. while there were a multitude of factors involved, carle and jvr as a combo might have made a significant diff...or not. i think w/ this coach, yes... so we'll see. it's a good discussion point.

I hope the flyers just keep the kids. Schenn is on track to become a dustin brown type player. Coots needs to get stronger. I don't know how you get a big time d player in here. I could see packaging read/coburn for a yandle.

Mez really worries me going forward. I think they really need to pick D in this draft. I know it's best available. But if ristolanen is there at 7 or 8. What forward would be available that's better?
