Not true. You cannot amnesty a player who is placed on LTIR (long-term injured reserve)... which is EXACTLY why Leino has not been placed on LTIR. He may (likely) or may not be bought out... but the Sabres are keeping him on the roster to keep their options open.

If they finish with a draft pick outside the top three I could see it happening but I'm guessing other pieces will have to be involved. Either way we will end up with a solid prospect that will probably be better than anyone we have in the system right now.
