Hard to imagine it will. I'm surprised the NHL hasn't made the call already.

Can you see it: "Hey..thanks for spending most of the night and all day chasing this scumbag around. Now that they're both dead, I need 50 volunteers to provide security tonight for the Penguins/Bruins game," said the CoP.

Never mind the fact that, logistically, the arena workers probably won't be able to get there in good order. The city is going to be a total charlie foxtrot as soon as the lock down is lifted. And while the Penguins team could walk to the arena from their downtown hotel, what of the Bruins players who come from all over the city to play?

Playing under today's conditions would be a logistical nightmare

Completely agree. The game isn't for a few hours, but the Boston PD has been active since 10pm last night. The majority of the officers have to be running on fumes and an NHL game just isn't that important comparitively.

Call the Mayor of Boston or Governer of Mass. & do whatever they say.

Red Sox game has been cancelled, hard to imagine that Bruins won't follow suit very soon

Nick Cafardo‏@nickcafardo13m
David Ortiz said he was informed that tonight's game has been cancelled.

Is it dangerous for the general public to be around? Yep.

Would I still play the game? Yes - but literally, make it "essential people only." No fans, no vendors, ... just players, officials, and whatever members of the broadcast team and arena operations are essential to carry the game. That limits the amount of security needed to control crowds and so on, but still gets the game played - because cancelling probably pushes it out to the 30th, and the game is almost certain to be important for deciding the Northeast Division.

That is a good idea, but it negates the NHL's main driving force. The fans $$$.

@HackswithHaggs Could they possibly play Pens/Bruins tomorrow....and then Sabres/Pens make up their game next week? That might make sense.

Not a bad idea... The Sabres have three days off in a row next week, and the Pens are off two of those days. Could play the game on the 23rd or 24th

Except that this could drag into tomorrow, and seems as though it might. Plus all of the City's personnell is gonna be exhausted.

So the NHL would lose this game today and tomorrow, then have to reschedule PIT/BUF. Not gonna happen

If it ends today (big "if" at this point), tomorrow shouldn't be a problem, and it might be a welcomed diversion, and almost used as a celebration for cooped up Bostonians who want to go out and get drunk lol.

I don't know, no real easy solutions at this point.

How does Karlsson coming back affect Eugene's investigation? I haven't heard anything new on that lately.

Must be hush hush until he's done reconstructing the crime scene, but I thought that would be done by now.

Matt Cooke will be arrested on Monday by the Mounties at his request before Cooke steps on to the ice at SBP

The city is locked down..as in stay in your homes and off the streets. Road blocks and check points have been established in certain areas and entire neighborhoods cordoned off. How could the NHL justify making the request that their players and arena personnel receive some sort of special dispensation to head out and play a game?

Send the team home and play Buffalo tomorrow. Make up the Boston game after the end of the season only if the outcome would have an impact on the final standings.

*Edit* - No confirmation from anywhere else though. No team officials or league officials or even columnists that might have heard anything.

Yeah very conflicting for sure, maybe they are going to cancell it, but are trying to work the logistics of a make up date for both teams that makes sense

Just looked. 40 minutes. I'm guessing someone jumped the gun on it and it's been retweeted a lot.

Apparently Stan Savran said it (and the Sox game) were cancelled on 970

I am a firm believer that terrorists should not effect our everyday lives, unless of course its a safety thing. That's how these p.o.s's win, we are America; Boston epitomizes America an many ways. I can see them really wanting things to go as normally as possible.
