He's at a pace of 48 points in a complete season.
Cap hit comparables to him:
Brouwer who scores around 40 points a year.
Alex Tanguay who scores around 55 points a year
Jarrett Stoll who scores 40 points a year
Antoine Vermette who scores 45 a year
Paul Gaustad who scores 30 a year
Derick Brassard who scores 40 a year
Dave Bolland who scores 40 a year
If you look at that, he's pretty bang on. - QuebecPride
you're putting him in a list of well known elite defensive forwards and who are also excellent faceoff men, they can afford to only have 40 points DD is no good at any of the other stuff they do |

sure, pick and choose.
what about Kunitz, Williams, Brown, and Giroux??? - muffin_man
Brown and Kunitz score 55 points a year
Giroux hasn't signed his UFA deal yet, so we're not comparing players in the same situation.
Williams scores 60, when healthy.
Desharnais scored 60 last season. |

All of those guys don't suck as bad a DD defensively though... - BashCH
They don't suck as much as DD defensively, but they don't produce as much(most of them). It evens out. It's not a bargain, but it's not a bad contract either. |

Kunitz is likely to hit 60 this year (if he hasn't already) so if we're going to talk about career years as norms, gfy
Brown is a way more complete and desirable player
Williams had 76 points one year so his career year is WAY better than DD's.
Any more arguments to make? |
