Its cliche, but I think Saturday's game is the biggest of the year (to that point). If they win in regulation, they take a five point lead on Winnipeg with 3 to go. That should clinch at least a playoff berth.

If we beat Winnipeg Saturday the magic number to clinch will be two points. So yeah we are basically in

The isles are in beast-mode. They're playing great. I haven't seen a stretch of isles hockey like this probably never over the past two decades. I don't expect them to go 4-0 the rest of the way, but if they did, I wouldn't be THAT surprised.
- Jethro09

To me this might have been the most impressive win of the season. Down 2-0 early, first game of a 5 game road trip to end the season....this couldn've set the tone in a bad way for the rest.

I can't imagine how frustrating this team is for the opposition. They seem to have this knack lately of playing shutdown hockey defensively when they get a lead, yet have this abiltiy to keep the pedal to the metal offensively. Must be very frustrating for the other team. I say "fvck em"!

@NHLBarryMelrose: You have to love the Islanders. If I had a vote I'd vote for Tavares for the MVP of the league. He has been great all year

Leafs already have the rights to the "bluewaffle" nickname.

Climbing a point ahead of the Caps helps a little. If they falter a bit and the Jets go on a tear, they'd take third rather than 8th...but that's leaving a lot to chance. Rather the Isles just win out and take care of their own fate.

You just need to watch what's happening with the Habs and Bruins and do whatever necessary to finish with a 1st round match up against Montreal. Whether that be 5th or 7th.

that would be the best case scenario. I would aslo like to see the Rags make it in the 8 spot because i think they would give the pens the hardest time of the 3 or 4 possible 8th place finishers.

Hey I think the pens would beat them, but I think it would soften the Pens up for our second round match up... every little bit helps

If Rags make it they will be one of the easiest teams to play against next to Toronto and who ever gets the 3rd seed. The only thing I would worry about is Lundqvst but even he can be stopped.

If Sid wouldn't be ready for round one, I'd have no problem with us playing Pittsburgh. I'd definitely prefer Montreal, but the Pen's are obviously not the same without him. That said, he's just resumed skating so he'll probably be ready for action by round 1. Malkin has a bad shoulder that is probably going to need surgery so he's clearly not the same guy either. The Pen's are a wounded duck...er..bird...whatever.

you underrate 2 hated div rivals facing one another in a Rags vs Pens first round match up, If they meet each other it wont be the easy Pens sweep you make out to be.

If Crosby is healthy Pens win in 5 if not Pens win in 7. I just hope we don't get Boston first round

They have won 20 of the last 22, most without Crosby or Malkin or both.

So you know, there is that.

The few games I've caught of them lately I was rather unimpressed. I'm not so sure things would translate to the playoffs well for them with a post concussion Neal, Malkin w/ broken wing, and Crosby out. That said, it now appears that Crosby may be ready so.....

Saw that Buffalo 4-1 loss...Rangers 6-1 loss and 2-1 win and then parts of both the Florida and Montreal games.... Not one of those performances made me think they looked like a lock to wipe out anyone at this stage. Obviously that changes if they get healthy.
