All the winning the Isles are doing and it still feels they are on a treadmill. - ses111
Gained pts on the Leafs at least. Only 2 points back of them now. Saturdays game is huge. Need at least a point there but getting 2 in regulation would hurt Winnepeg big time. Obviously also depends in how the Rags play tomorrow. Would be nice if they lost that game in hand they have.
We control our own destiny, bottom line. Playing so well. |

I can't believe this, but no one in this playoff push wants to lose. Good thing is Ottawa plays Toronto on Saturday, so someone's dropping points there, and the Rangers might have trouble with a suddenly hot Buffalo team tomorrow. If we keep winning, none of it matters, and we end up no worse than the 7th seed.
Gotta love being down 2-0, and being up 3-2 by the end of that period. That was your ballgame right there, folks. Every player said it tonight, the 2 fights changed everything. Even though Carkner was basically responsible for both goals, he got someone to fight him, and it changed the mood on the bench. I didn't like the lineup changes going in, but Capuano stepped in poop tonight with those 2 fights, some good karma.
We were the better team, onwards and upwards.... |

Basically, if they win the next two games, they're in. If they win the next two and the rag$ lose tomorrow, they're guaranteed not to see Pittsburgh in round one. |

BTW....AMac....hell of a game tonight. 1st line...doing exactly what they're supposed to do. We have a lot of Canadian players on this team, you can tell they like playing up north. |

Again, no chance the Isles lose a single game on this road trip.

Amac definitely had a great game and that's coming from someone who is critical of him. |

The isles are in beast-mode. They're playing great. I haven't seen a stretch of isles hockey like this probably never over the past two decades. I don't expect them to go 4-0 the rest of the way, but if they did, I wouldn't be THAT surprised. |

This team is something else. I keep saying this I know but if they continue playing like this into the playoffs they match up to just about anyone even dare I say Boston. You gotta love these guys . They are primed for a first round upset of whomever they play against. |

My only disagreement with this is that if they win the next two, and the rag$ lose, with guaranteed 7th place, I'm sitting Nabby at least once. I think they can beat anyone but Pittsburgh, regardless of where they play them, with the only exception being if Lundqvist were to beat the Isles by himself, because his team isn't really a whole lot of help from what I've seen lately (Florida is a joke, so that doesn't count), and they'll probably have Pitt in the first round and be out, anyway. We'd have to win a couple of games with Poulin playing the goal- not that we can't, but it's not as easy, needless to say. |

Its cliche, but I think Saturday's game is the biggest of the year (to that point). If they win in regulation, they take a five point lead on Winnipeg with 3 to go. That should clinch at least a playoff berth. |

I hope so...it's the most overstated comment on here but tomorrow's game is the biggest Islanders game in 10 years. If we win, we're unquestionably in. Winnipeg is another team playing excellent hockey right now and they've played us well this year.
I've gone from thinking we MIGHT make the playoffs this year, to thinking we would miss, to thinking we MIGHT make it, to now believing we may damn well win a series. Given the mediocrity of this conference right now, who knows what could happen.... |

You know if somehow the stars aligned and the Isles made a run like the Kings did last year. They would never get the credit they deserved. I can hear all of the excuses now...no training camp, short schedule, other teams that were supposed to be good sucked. They will want to put an * next to their name, and write all of their names on the cup in crayon. |

You can count on it. During the dynasty they use to get heat for not winning enough and not finishing first during the regular season. |

Yep. If either the Rangers or Winnipeg would have lost last night, I'd feel really good about the Isles' playoff hopes. If they can pull of Saturday, that might all but seal it. Of course, if the Rangers win tonight and Winnipeg wins Saturday, we'll be in a dogfight until the end. It's been a wild ride this season. |

I've been all over the map. I now feel very good about the Isles making it and it would not shock me if they could win a round. We have all seen plenty of upsets in the playoffs. |

Carkner cost us to start. But way to fight back. Go figure that boyes started it. Lol. - Spartiarti
Yep! He played well last night. Everyone did. Only two players who were not so impressive were Carkner early on in the first (though he managed to stay out of the spotlight afterward)...and Nabby looked a little shaky, even on some of the easy flips toward the net. Hopefully just an off night and not a sign of him getting a bit fatigued. They should just let him sleep until Saturday night to make sure he's rested and ready. Isles need him at his best for this final sprint.
Even Boulton, for all the hollering we did about him dressing for the game, was pretty solid. Forechecked well enough, put some pucks toward the net, and got in a good scrap that didn't disrupt an Isles' odd-man rush. |

Agreed...although I'm sure Winnipeg fans are just as frustrated that for all their winning they're not gaining much ground on the Isles. |
