Emery with a lower body injury is not good - Maggie
Indeed. Hopefully it isn't too serious. |

Six games to go until Rusty is a black ace.
Maybe longer if Rockford makes the playoffs. |

Wouldn't an indoor rink defeat the purpose of having an outdoor game? - EKolb13
Good point...the roof is retractable but in my gut...that venue is a non-starter.

So instead of filming Kane eating lunch at Q'doba, they'll have Rocky going to Gibsons. Sweet.
As for the previous talk about the Hawks and Penguins playing outdoors... Chi/Pit games of the past few years have really been fantastic. All have been legitimate regular season highlights. Great hockey.
They could put Crosby Vs Toews playing roller hockey at the UC parking lot and it would be compelling tv. |

>JJ, very fine analysis of the Hawks big picture
>There is a HUGE difference between being a talented collection of players and a talented collection of real pros who play as a team
>See Avs vs Hawks
>Many NHL players NEVER learn how to be a real pro
>Culture is critical to making that happen
>As you mentioned, you can't measure the "Here's how to be a pro" that Hossa embodies, but you sure can see it in how well the Hawks youth-core is playing
>Toews' (and Hossa) tenacity of never giving up on a play has filtered through the team and has really taken his game to another level this year -- his takeaway skill is every bit as good as Datsyuk in his prime
>Q said he was going to do some things differently this year and he obviously made the right choices |

Interesting statement! Do you mean this as a player or by how they conduct themselves off the ice? |

Wonder how feasible it would be to build the rink indoors ? - philco28
Just as easy or easier. But then it's not an outdoor game.
I figure the next 'Hawks home game would be in Soldier, home of the colliding toilet seats.
Actually, the NHL blew its chance to re-schedule the winter classic for 2013. They could have still pulled it together in 2 months; to play in the big house the middle of last month. |

It's just a shame the Hawks didn't acquire Ott at the TDL...
...now they have no chance. How can such a soft team compete?
Ladies and gentlemen, your Western Conference Champion Chicago Blackhawks.
Yowza! - ArlingtonRob
Remind me how many stanley cups were awarded during the regular season?
Bowman is playing a dangerous game of chicken...In 2010 he won, when Niemi came through.
In 2011, 2012 he lost when his team flamed out in the 1st round...
Anything less then 16 playoff wins, with this team, is unacceptable and is blamed squarely on the shoulders of a GM who for the 3rd straight year thought he was smarter then the rest of the league.
Again, he wins...I'll glady give him credit..This team loses, I assume you and the others will run back to hiding... |

Interesting statement! Do you mean this as a player or by how they conduct themselves off the ice? - paulr
>How they conduct themselves in totality -- not just off the ice
>A player must develop a routine that he knows will help him produce the most consistent, high-quality effort
>Crawford dropped his pre-game routine of playing soccer "with the boys" and instead does mental training pre-game -- big difference this year
>Nik Lidstrom had the EXACT same ritual for every Wings road game -- breakfast each morning at same time, read the paper at breakfast, etc. -- that ritual drove his consistency on the ice
>Each player is responsible for "finding his mojo"
>Many don't because they don't know how -- that's where guys like Hossa help a ton |

Got into a big argument with a buddy of mine (Flyers fan) who says Pens-Flyers is the best current rivalry in the NHL, I obviously countered with Hawks-Nucks, which IMO is just as physical, way faster, and a much higher quality of hockey rather than the cluster-f that is philly pitt. Wondering what you guys think is the best current one going in the NHL?
P.S. I wish we had a game tonight - rollpards19
I hate saying it, but I like the pens-flyers better. Both are great, though. And don't let the flyers record fool you, they have a lot of great young players. Injuries killed their D. Flyers are my 2nd favorite team to watch. |

He did as he should as the 'GM' in title...but i recall he was very ill in the days leading up this. As the 'numbers guy,' how did Stan not only evade any scrutiny, but remarkably, end up being promoted ?
Anyone with facts please take the floor. - philco28
All I'll say is politics. It wasn't done intentional, but it was the perfect reason to fire a very popular gm with fans and players, coming off a great season, and having just signed Hossa, Kopecky, and Madden.
The poor saps who think Tallon wanted to fire Savard, are in the dark as well... |

Boy you are really loving Stan huh?
Anything less than 16 playoff wins is unacceptable? If this team goes to the Western Conference finals and loses in an epic series there will be no blame going anywhere. Don't pretend like in 2011 this team was expected to do anything. They didn't flame out, they lost to the #1 seed in the Western Conference!

I though all Stanley Cup victories were accomplished in the regular season. I guess I was wrong.
And way to go out on a limb... if the Hawks win the cup, you celebrate with everyone and say Stan wasn't so bad afterall. If they lose though, your months and months of whining and moaning are all vindicated and you can gloat while you whine and moan for another long summer.
Sounds like a win / win for a loud mouth fan who swears they know what's best yet some how aren't working in the industry that they claim to know better than the professionals who are employed in the league.
Well done.
