oh hockey aside,

We all should be celebrating a victory over evil today, as the marathon bombers have been identified with one being dead! As we would say in the Army: hooah!

Hopefully we see an anticlimactic ending here, nobody caught in the crossfire.

I'm still in Camp Bryz.

If he gets bought out I will be bummed.

- Scoob

Name the 2 starting goalies for the Flyers in the last decade who had a single season SV% above .910? Neither of them are Bryz and he makes more than both of them combined. I think the thing that some people are hanging their hat on is the month of March last year. His sv % was equally as bad last year until he hit that hot streak towards the end of the season when Lavi rode him exclusively. Many people were saying the hot streak was the real bryz when in reality, i think it was just a hot streak. I know they set a record in road wins last year but the guy who won 50% of those road wins isn't on the roster anymore.

Regardless, if they buy out a 9 year contract after 2 years, that's an unbelievable amount of egg on the Flyers faces so I see him getting 1 more year to right the ship.

im right on board with this until you start talking about the big save. Bryzgalov made several of those through the game. Eventually the damn breaks...
- JoeRussomanno

Agreed. Yes he can be weak in one-on-one situations but it is frustrating when folks ignore all the good saves he makes and focus one the one he didn't. Quite frankly, there were many more egregious errors on the play that lead to the second goal. Focusing on and blaming the last line of defense on that play is silly.

Honestly, I don't care because the team playing in front of him this year flat out sucks. Sucks. S. U. C. K. S. I blame the rest of the team far more than I blame him.

Without using the google machine, I'm gonna guess "Silent" Bob Esche and Roman Cechmanek.

And yes, I agree.....just to get another year out of him to make his eventual buyout a little more financially palpatable, I can see them keeping him around, but his days of getting 60 starts are over.

You know, watching that mess last night gave me the feeling that the team has quit on Bryz and want to see him bought out.

Maybe they were just tired and or are just bad.
But they were really bad. Not taking open shots, horrid passing,
total lack of compete for loose pucks.

From their captain on down they were awful.

Roenick said they looked worse then a high school team on the NBC broadcast.

Welcome back Nutter.

So, after the Flyers skaters failed to put a single goal on the board, we're having a goalie debate? Fascinating.

good will always prevail, the Devils domination of the Flyers reminds me off the Flyers domination of the Penguins back in the day.

I believe Cechmanek was 11 years ago but I was going with Bob1 and Bob2.

The game was so exciting last night I fell asleep after 1 drink between the 2nd and 3rd.
That said, yeah we played like crap. You can't blame a goalie for a loss when you don't score.
My only thoughts on Bryz is that the communication between him and the team is abysmal. It's almost like he's trying to play the puck more outside the net to prove he's decent at it and all it's doing is making it more obvious that he can't communictae with the team.

Sadly the team doesn't trust him to play it, more than once he got a call of "Leave it" from the D which ended up in a turnover. Not necessarily Bryz's fault... Of course whenever they told him nothing he played it right to the Devils, so kinda damned if ya do or damned if ya don't.
However, that scramble in front of the net when Gagne tried to pass Bryz back a rebound and the Devil's almost scored? REALLY!?!

The media is blowing things out of proportion. No question. So I don't listen to them... In reality though there is a fire under all that smoke... There are some serious questions about soft goals, break aways, and communication with the team. I do remember that at the beginning of this season Bryz was the ONLY reason we were still alive. So I'm not gonna roast him over an open fire, but man some serious decisions need to be made and I'm glad I don't have to make them... Of course I don't make millions either.

There really was no reason to play Bryz. If they wanted to play Bryz because it was an elimination game then why was Mason playing so much the past week? Mason had been playing well and the end of the season should be more about evaluating him than trying to show Bryz that management still has confidence in him by playing him.

I think it was more about not embarrassing him and Briere by letting them sit than trying to win.

If they played like that because they don't like their goalie, then they can all go because that is akin to 12 year old girls. Seriously, Marc you're smarter than that.

The flyers fail to pressure the other team in their own zone, fail to clear their zone, fail to score on gift scoring chances and all I read today is how awful bryzgalov is when he gave up 2 goals, how Mason is great when he gave up an equal amount of goals in the previous game playing behind a team with more vigor. WoW just wow, guys.,
