The people that hated him hated him for the same reason skilled players hate defensive coaches, yet 10 years down the road they praise that coach they hated. On a lower level, Brodziak, told media that all that crap he thought MacT was making up ended up being right and is thankful that he had someone bugging him.
Simply put, hard working defensive players got the benefit of the doubt and trust from MacT. Skilled guys were forced to play with less skill. - Lahey
Not like he ever had an abundance of skill to work with those years. |

Will Hemsky, but you know just as well as I do that people just ripped him for Reasoner and Peterson getting so many minutes at times. Yet in hindsight he wasn't exactly wrong. |

Like I said, he wasn't turfed for being a bad coach. Just time for a change. every coach eventually gets fired. |

MacT would have been a great coach for all the young players though. He had a similar style to D Sutter. Work hard and it pays off.
I think that coaching mentallity was why the 04 flames and 06 oilers made it to the cup (and the LA kings) |

I don't think he would've been to be honest. Our AHL coach coaches a very hard working defensive style and the kids really just did their own thing. Kids don't want to work all that hard anymore.

Just out of curiosity, Colin, why did you choose Shinkaruk as a guy to profile today? So many guys to choose from, Ristolainen, Lindholm etc. Why Shink? |

Who the hell stands on a chair?
I'd also like to see them do that with Feaster in CGY |

Wouldn't that either force you to step up or fall down? |

Where would you step up to? The air? If someone starts pulling a chair out from under you are you just gonna stand there and fall off or are you going to step down so you don't fall? Come on guys I was trying to be metaphorical and deep and stuff..
