Which line are you breaking up to take Boyes off the top line, or are you going to scratch him and dress Lee or someone else and put them on the top line?
- Jethro09

nah maybe swap him out with Grabner. If Grabs played all year with Tavares he is guarenteed to get at least 70 to 80 points

Bailey and Okposo are both in their mid to early 20's. Boyes is in his 30's I think its pretty safe to say boyes has hit his celing and now he is plummeting down to the end of his career.
- Vukota

Boyes will be gone at the end of the season. They (hopefully) will look to upgrade that RW spot on the first line with a legit 1st line talent, a move that they should be able to make coming off this season, going into Brooklyn with the cap space they will have.

I understand that but I still don't get how this season is a freebie? I agree they both need to do it over a full season but you have to give them credit because that line has basically carried this team the last couple of weeks
- Vukota

Oh no they have I am not saying they have not been good at the moment. They have been playing hard.

Forget it. We get all excited in here I am happy they are winning I really am but againa shortened season. I can guarentee if the season was 82 games the Islanders would not be in the playoffs same can be said for Toronto.

Again I am happy they are in the playoffs but lets not think that the team we have on the ice will be there next year. Especially with question marks around the goaltending and with the problems we still have

- kasperrko

Who thinks that? My guess is Martinek, Aucoin, Reasoner, & Boyes are gone. I think we can see Nino, Strome, Lee & Nelson next year along with Donovan. I think Nabby & Streit resign

Bailey and KO have shown a lot this past few weeks. If were going to kill them for bad play, we need to acknowledge good play. They clearly click with Nielsen. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and wouldn't mind seeing both back next season with Nielsen on a third line for a full 82 games.

Id rather at this point scatch him 2-3 games, give Nino/Strome hell even Joensuu a few games there... See what the kids have... give Boys a kick in the @ss.. after 3 games.. See what he has to offer.

If you take Grabner off that 3rd line and put Boyes there you lose that whole line. Grabner on that line gives them 3 lines that can score

Not to mention any experience learned this season, being in a playoff race, and being in even 1 round of the playoffs will do wonders for these kids development. That is not a freebe.

i agree with those 4 not being on the team year but i wouldnt just necessarily assume those 4 prospects will be filling in...i anticipate a trade involving some prospects/players during the offseason.

remember, we have to reach the cap floor...prospects wont get us there.

fwiw, i dont think streit will resign.

Sometimes more isn't always good. Let him keep doing what he is doing on the 3rd line. it makes them that much deeper

I hope Nabby is resign I thinkhe is the big reason why this team is playing the way they are. they love him and he is a veteran. they look up to him. That was something this team was lacking for a long time with DP in net. This team has been amazing without DP and if there is a God DP will notbe around this team again next year

The only guys that we can be confident won't be here next year are Reasoner, Joensuu, Aucoin, Boyes and Martinek. Streit and Nabby will probably be back. Bailey and Hamonic will likely be tendered. Everyone else is signed (not Boulton, but if he goes, does anyone really care?) This team is pretty much intact. Those five I listed are probably going to be replaced either internally (Strome, Lee, Nino, Nelson, Donovan, de Haan?) or via UFA. But I think the core of this team is going to remain as is.

I just don't want to break up the other three lines. they all seem to be clicking. Maybe dress Lee and scratch Boyes? But that has PP repurcussions too.

I agree, dont break something else to fix another thing.

Thats why i mentioned BP players & Joensuss who has talent, but is the first to get scratched to get someone else into the line up.
