He needs to be resigned. Risking having a tandem of Poulin and DP next year is just scary. Sign Nabby and a reliable backup. The Poulin ship has sailed...

The Poulin ship has sailed? he's 23. The Poulin Ship hasn't even left port yet.

Poulin has been hot and cold over the few games he's played in his Isles career (this season and prior) however he's extremely young. Backing up Nabby next year would be an acceptable goaltending situation however I'd still like to see the Isles push for a young number one goaltender as Nabby gets another year older. I'd be okay with Nabby for one more year, but not at the same pace he's played this season. He needs more rest and fewer games next year if he's back and Poulin should be given the opportunity to take the reins and run with it.

still very much interested in what Bernier would cost.

here's my issue with Boyes. Last night on the PP, who gave the puck away in the offensive zone twice? Boyes.

when JT's line comes out and spends their entire shift in their own end, who usually had a chance to clear and couldn't? Boyes.

part of the reason JT hasn't been as effective lately is because their line spends a lot of time hemmed in their own zone, and if you'll pay attention to that on thursday, you'll see what I see out of Boyes. Lack of compete. He throws the puck away blindly and does it in all zones. He's not a good fit with JT and Moulson and shouldn't be resigned.

I'm not saying a rookie should take his place, but we have plenty of kids coming up and next season (not this season) I'd be interested to see either Bailey or one of the kids get a chance to play with JT in camp. There's no reason they can't find a better fit from within for that line. If not, there's a lot of pieces we could move for a winger to play in that spot who could be a lot more effective than Boyes.

he's a placeholder, and this summer he needs to be gone.

- Isles_since_6

Forget it. You'll never get the guy to admit that there is any one on this planet that is a better fit than Boyes.

there wont be upgrade at Foward. Good posibility you see Nino, Strome and Nelson next year. Where do you put them?
Isles will need to upgrade on Defense b/c Streit is likely gone.

Exactly! It's hard to write off a guy who never plays. I'd like to see Poulin get a good number of games as a backup at least before writing him off.

Agree with you 100%...

Thats being said... He's on the Isles and he is here for the rest of the year. I wouldnt break up the line just yet... From a team perspective, whats not broke doesnt need fixing.

Hence why I said from a team perspective...

Even with him on the 1st line, they can still score.
If you move him off the 1st then your are jeopardizing the 2nd & 3rd line's chemistry. He should be taken off the PP entirely though.

off the powerplay for sure, and off the team as soon as the season ends

what the Isles lines actually look like this year:

Moulson JT (placeholder)
Bailey Nielson Okposo
McDonald (placeholder) Grabner
(placeholder) Cizikas Martin

Macdonald Hamonic
LV Hickey
(placeholder) Carkner/Strait

I see 3 holes up front for ufa signings or kids to take, and one spot on D, possibly 2 if they run with 8 defenseman and rotate them in and out as needed

Gone would be Streit, Joensuu, Aucoin, Reasoner, Boyes, Martinek, Finley

plenty of opportunities for a young D man or two, and a few kids up front. Could be more or less openings depending on UFA signings or trades.

Nowhere in those forward lines do I see another year of Boyes. If Snow wanted to resign him, it would have been done already. Boyes is on a one year 1 mil contract. If snow offered him another year at 1.5 next to JT do you think he'd say no? He's not being resigned.

I'm only worried about this year right now, and obviously nobody offered much for him.

I think he would be kinda crazy to leave. He's got it pretty good.

Look @ the greedy PAP... not doing so well now is he!!!

That team is a mess... but @ least he got a couple million more...

- jimmc7722

PAP's doing fine actually

And if someone offers our capt a nice payday.. which will happen.. he's gone

so youre of the opinion that regardless of a teams position in the conference, you trade away your future free agents?>
- LetsGoIsles

If they you don't have them resigned.. send them away... get something for them.

Snow got lucky that Nabby resigned. But he should have been moved too, regardless of how it all turned out.

If they dont want to be here enough to sign before the deadline.. then F'em & trade em that goes for ANY UFA.

Thats why i said bench him a couple games, put Joensuu in his spot or you could bring up Strome or Nino..

So you would have no problem if Snow traded Streit for a 2nd rd pick at the deadline even though they were in the middle of a playoff race?

Why would any team do that? Its one thing if you're in last place and you have no shot at the playoffs. Teams lose guys to UFA every year its part of the business. Trading Streit for a draft pick while you're in a playoff spot would have been foolish.
