A couple of years ago, the Boston Marathon tightened up their standards - basically lowered the qualifying times by 5 minutes for each age category.

And then last year, due to high temperatures, they allowed people to defer their entry to this year's race.

Both events made ripples in the running community.

It may very well be some demented, disgrunted runner who did this.

Or it may be a guy whose toaster told him to do it.

We just don't know.
