option 4: move schneider
dont be surprised if that happens. however i kinda doubt it.
i think gillis will do whatever aquilini tells him to do - Dozzer
I still think Florida will have some interest in the summer. Their vets are bad and off contract. Markstrom can use some help. Big Lou wants to be there ....Florida can use him ....and Gillis will have to buckle at the price.
The crappy effects of 'early retirement' don't really impact the Panthers because they don't spend to the Cap. Really they only care about his salary and it gets better in about 5 years.
Theres a fit that makes sense.
The wildcard might be Philly ...if they were willing to eat Bryzgalov's contract. |

Give Randy the Jack Adams for fixing the Penalty Kill alone
3rd in the NHL after years and years of bottom 5 under Wilson
On second thought, give someone else the Jack Adams and slap Ron Wilson in the mouth. And film it. - the_cause2000
Just thinking that. Is RC even considered for it? |

ok, but if you are florida why give up anything?
sit, wait, gillis buys luongo out, then he comes and wants to sign at a more reasonable price and term
makes more sense to wait.. especially since he will just go sign there anyways |

There is not one GM in the league who should do the Canucks that big of a favour and take on that contract. |

Well seeing you stole Howie's 4-hour shtick, you might as well steal his randombans too.

I can't see that contract being bought out. After the previous lockout, not ONE compliance buyout was used on a player with more than one year left on his contract. That's just waaaay too much money to fritter away. |

Would probably be a good idea. Reimer is at supernova right now so I don't think it will hurt him. |

oh i know
but they are between a rock and a hard place here. they HAVE to clear out the cap space.. so they need to move a goalie
and i really dont see any GM out there ready to do gillis a favour of that magnitude.
i honestly wouldnt be shocked if its schneider that gets moved. there will be a market for him. |

Do you mean Ottawa's AHL coach? I don't really get why MacClean gets all the credit. The players that were called up were more prepared and able to contribute at the NHL than I bet even he was ready for. That credit goes to their AHL coach IMO. |

Uhh, Ottawa took last years marginal playoff team minus (mostly) its four best players back to the playoffs, barring a tremendous last-minute run by the Jets.
That is just as impressive... Besides, perhaps it's less Carlyle is great than Wilson was holding the team back.
I remembered hearing a lot of that over the last couple years.

its not the same team at all.
fraser, mcclaren, kadri, kostka, JVR, O'Byrne, Komarov, Mcclement, Scrivens are all new this year
thats 8 guys.. 35% of the roster is different. |

totally agree. Luke Richardson and his coaching staff should be getting the credit - not the Stache (although I think he is an excellent coach as well). |

What if Louongo retires, absolving his contract, and returns to hockey after a year off. |

still.. he has kept his team in playoff contention without the best forward, their best d-man, and for long stints without their starting golaie.
you cant ignore that. no matter how you try and twist it. |

why would he do that?
he can just sit and wait for the buyout
he isnt about to give away all that money |
