Great first round matchup - kneughter
I think I'd most like to avoid Pitts, Bost, Wash ....probably in that order. I think the Rags could be sleeping giants too. Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and the Isles are probably all overachievers to some degree. It's probably as wide open in the East as it's ever been. |

I think the Rags have upset potential over the Pens. Lundqvist can do pretty much anything, including knocking out the best team in the East.
I'd like the Isles or Sens, but that could only happen with a division win.
I would actually take Boston in the first round. Just get it out of the way. You lose? Oh well. You win? It's a defining moment for this group. |

eat the habs for breakfast and prepare to dominate whoever is next in line with a well rested team.
leafs in 5. - lose game 1 due to 200 PIM and just an absolute lashing is placed.
thats my hopes. |

a half season of badness over 3 solid seasons on the leafs as one of the best players... i can live with.
its not the bad half season people remember, its what he does after to bring himself up.
perhaps a big goal in the playoffs or game winner before end of season is all that is needed to spark the belarusian bullseye! - big_dion
His shootout effort against the Rangers, where he basically just skates over the blue line and wrists one into Lundqvist's pad, is concerning. Looked like he didn't give a crap. |

Agreed.....however, catching the Habs and getting home ice advantage, would be the cat's meow! A series against them and defeating them, would be outstanding. I hate listening to Habs fans and their false bravado, every day, down here in Eastern Ontario. The Sens fans have be well behaved, so far, but that would change if the Leafs and Habs hook up. The Sens fans would go back home to the swamp and re-unite with their lost soulmates. Something like the Vulcans and the Romulans......frogs and toads....... |

Depends on the health of Crosby, Malkin, Neal and Letang.
All are pretty banged up but if they are healthy for the playoffs...I don't think the Rangers touch them. |

Thats why I take it with a grain of salt... would it be so hard to believe he would rather push Nonis agenda over Gillis?
Not saying he would.. but it wouldn't be impossible to believe. - kneughter
So let's put the 10 million grains of salt aside and be clear about what we do know:
1. Gillis has been trying to get trade Luongo since the end of last season.
2. No takers |

Nonis reportedly said no when the asking price was two 2nd rounders, and Scrivens. That says something. Scrivens right now is a very good backup goalie, and why trade a cheap and effective commodity for an overpaid aging goalie who isn't currently an upgrade on our starter? |

Perfect scenario ..win the division and play the Isles. Hope the Sens knock out the Caps. Beat the Sens. Let the Habs beat the Bruins and Pens. Beat the Habs. Beat the Nucks to win the Cup. Dive into vat of Crown Royal and die. |

I don't think Markstrom needs 4 years of being a back up. He needs to be in a platoon now. |

I'm saying it right now - If Leafs win tonight, they're gonna run the table through the remaining 5 games.
Vancouver's not getting out of the first round... not sure what you're smoking there Match-up with St Louis doesn't favour Van. |

The numbers make it pretty clear --
trade for a $5.3M back-up when our $1.8M starter has the same save % as their $4M starter |

I agree, Nabokov isn't a playoff performer and the Isles will need strong goaltending.
Washington is a tough nut to crack. Last year they rode Holtby (sp) into the second round - beating the Bruins in the process - and nearly taking out the Rangers.
Ottawa would be a more solid contender with a full line-up.
Boston is scary. I'm sure they're beatable - they are - but Toronto seems to going into a shell.
Montreal can go either way. We may have dusted them, but the playoffs = blank slate.

That Luongo contract will be the hill that Gillis' job dies on.... |
