I hate Bolland's inability to stay of the ice and win draws (ignoring last night) ...and his contract. Thank goodness there's only one year remaining.

Yeah, goal poast Sharp at $5.9 for 4 more years is much better.

I admit it...I like Sharp.

In 6 seasons prior to this shortened year...

451 GP
174 goals 173 assists 347 total points.

I don't know how many posts he hit in that span, but I'm sure it was plenty.

Now...that being said, if a deal were possible with a nice return I wouldn't have a problem with moving Sharp.

Anyone know the specifics of his no-movement-clause?

Does anyone even miss Sharp? If Sharp comes back tomorrow, who sits?

Yeah, this seems to be an article of faith with Q or something, so that's how it's going to be. Which is fine if we get a return of 2010-ish hustling-throttling-shutdown Dave, instead of slow-plodding-"where did everybody go?" Dave.

I don't think he's really been healthy all year, and the last two games have given me hope that he's getting better, and can find his game for the playoffs.

- Tugboat

If you want shut down Dave you can't play him with the worst defensive player on the team. So either they want offense from him or put him with Frolik and Carcillo or Handzus

Hey don't know if anyone else saw this, but Raffi Torres' latest comments continue to show what an absolute piece of crap this guy is...

“Phoenix was great,” he told the Arizona Republic. “Obviously it was a big disappointment for me when I got suspended last year. I feel like I could have been a big part of the run, although those guys did a great job. That was the toughest part for me.

It was tough to bounce back from that, and it took me a long time. But overall just great guys and great training staff from the organization. It’s too bad this team doesn’t have an owner.”

Yeah it was real tough after you once again tried to end another guy's career...this guy shouldn't be in the league.

Who would you say is the most improved player? My pick would be Nick Leddy.

As for Bowman, in my opinion he hasn't accomplished anything yet. Yes he won a cup with a team he no part in building, though I think he deserves credit for not making a move that year to 'put his stamp on the team' which many GMs tend to do. And while he did make moves to relieve the cap hell the Hawks were in, that he wasn't responsible for, the Hawks, aside from a meaningless 24 game unbeaten streak, haven't accomplished anything. If the Hawks win the cup during his tenure, I'll certainly be there with you to bestow him with praise but right now it's wait and see.

I can still hear him saying - when that great '85 team caused yet another fumble - "Chicago Ball!"

Good thought and for most improved player I think if you look at it from the beginning of the season I would say Saad has definitely improved.

Saad in-season is a good call as is Leddy from last year to this season.

Bob McKenzie has an article about the NHL awards, lots of speculation some Blackhawks are in the running for a few. Toews for the Hart and Selke. Saad for the Calder. Keith for the Norris and Quenneville for the best coach.

I think Toews has a real good shot at the Selke and I think is the second best player in the league to a guy who may miss 1/3 of the season and still win the scoring race.

If Saad's second half of the season can carry a first half that saw him learn but show moderate production he may have a chance.

I think Keith doesn't have a chance as Subban should have it locked up.

Quenneville should be a front runner as Coach of the year.

Regardless of what the Hawk players do or don't do in regards to personal acheivement I think we'd all rather see them win the trophy that isn't voted on.

So this entire signing of the Hobey Baker mover and shaker was more about gettting a leg up on the competition and exciting the fan base, since he can't play THERE and he can't play HERE until next YERE...and that takes a second contract, LOL!

From the start I thought this was a mutual aggreement that was to feed off the vapors of the kids honors, and one where the Hawks did see something they liked that might help them.
I think the kid stayed with Toews, and that once he actually saw how fast things move at the NHL pace, he was taken back.

There seems to be concern at all the roadblocks involving this post-deadlibne signing, but from the start I figured the kid wanted to give the pro game a go, and he knows where he wants to play, so no biggee if he practices here, carries their bags to the plane, etc.

You think some team is gonna offer MORE than the hawks did in this Cap Hit?

It just proves there is always a reason to have Cap space...

I wish Leblanc the best of luck.

- wiz1901

Considering their lack of draft picks it isn't a terrible move to get in on a prospect before the draft.

Why would it necessarily include Stanley? His improvement as GM?

To me, the two most improved guys are Leddy and Hjalmarsson. And you'll recall, I said all summer that if the Hawks were going to compete for the hardware, those two, Stalberg and Kruger would need to step up. All four really have to varying degrees.

Why does the Hart just have to be about points? I ask this question every year.

Toews was close on the Selke before and I think has the best chance of anyone to get it this year. It'll be almost as a consolation for not getting the Hart. It's time he is recognized for his defensive prowess anyway and he's top of the league in takeaways if they need some statistical evidence to back up what everyone already sees from watching games.

The Hawks have a foot on first base...I didn't make it out t be as much as some because he was only inked to a one yr deal....PLUS

I also am old enough to remember Bill Watson and others....His girl friend would use his nickname of "Hobey" to refer to him!!!.............Yikes

She sat in front of me during his brief career. Poster boy for a NHL bust...it was too bad.
