its not about maturity its a deal between the 2 leagues to keep players in the CHL if they arent NHL ready.

otherwise everyone would just go play in the AHL and there would be no CHL

- robz228

I think there'd still be plenty of kids to populate that league. If that's their reasoning, I'd think there'd be something relating to the contract the player signs, rather than an age restriction. I guess I don't see a huge benefit to having players that are too good for the CHL but not ready for the NHL stay back there. Especially from a development standpoint.

Grigs is a perfect example of this. His development could be severely hampered if he gets run over or injured at the NHL level due to clearly not being ready, but at the same time, there's not much benefit to him playing in the Q. And I can guarantee you he'll be a huge liability at least early in the season next year while he's still learning the speed and building strength.

Might want to look further into that. I read (red) that his JR is now done and can go to the AHL or NHL next season or even now.

I need to get my hands on the full agreement as its impossible to find online in its original form there are lots of posts on hockey boards but nothing consistent

Keeping Grigs in Buffalo is just another sign of the stupidity this organization is drowning in.

Its moronic.
Not only will him playing on the 3rd or 4th line not help him, if he dresses one more game he is one year closer to being a UFA. Not that it matters greatly but its just another boneheaded move this franchise made and will continue to make with Darcy at the helm

ha ha! see what happens, Pommer, when you go to a team that has a captain that make sure the team is committed to winning?

Whatever Poms intent was with that statement, it sure came across an indictment of himself.

I think people are taking this too seriously.

He was traded to a new team of course he is going to say he is excited to be here and be in the playoffs. Its a typical answer all hockey players say. Would you expect anything less from a guy who would deliver the same statement after each loss? Its a non story.

who knows. poops confusing as hell. i believe you have to be 20 if you come from the CHL though, so maybe not since he will be 19 still i think?
- robz228

Kea's team's season ended and he is 19 and was allowed to play with Rochester for the rest of this season but because he doesn't turn 20 until January he has to start next season back in the CHL.

So the Sabres have 5 games left. Your crush won't play against Boston but he will play in the remaining 5 games.? Great math Garth.

I wish Vanek and Stafford weren't on this team... but they are....

Vanek - Hodgson - Ennis
Ott - Grigorenko - Flynn
Foligno - Porter - Stafford
Scott/Gerbe - Hecht - Kaleta

IMO.

No he still has junior eligibility left with him still being 18 (he turns 19 soon). He either has to be here or in the Q i believe
- Stripes77

That's correct
The dumb rule basically exists to try n keep talent in the CHL for longer so they'll have a better product
It's an agreement between the CHL & NHL

It's dumb Grigorenko isn't going to Rochester now though
Are we going to play him for 5 games and then send to Rochester for the playoffs? I'd rather he go down right away so he can get in a few games w new teammates before the playoffs start
Darcy must think he can somehow help the Sabres make the playoffs... Hahaha
