i wouldn't even sign steve avery.. but his brother sean i might... - SabresFaninIndiana
Ha ha. Maybe you'd sign Steve Avery if you were fielding a baseball team in 1997. |

Yes really. Would you make Steve Avery your captain? - Pierceme69
No to Avery . But if Ott motivates the team and holds players accountable ,leads by example of bringing a work ethic that makes the team better. I don't care what he does on the ice to intimidate the opposing team. |

Lindy hasnt been hard nosed since the 2009 season. He really took a few steps back on his tyranny. He tried to change his style and it didnt work - Stripes77
he didn't have the hard working players anymore.. you can yell and scream all you want at max and pommer but i don't think it will change anything for them. If you get a coach like that you need more players like ott, foligno, weber, kaleta.. the hard working players that put it all out there |

I don't look at what he does as intimidation. I look at it as jackassery. No one is intimidated by someone licking their visor or blowing them kisses. |

No way in hell do you put the C on a guy who blows kisses and licks someone's visor. I like Ott as a player but he shouldn't be the captain because of his antics. - Pierceme69
Ott should be captain because he is a win at all cost guy. I think the young guys appreciate his F*&% the other team, non-PC attitude. He is everything we wish Foligno was. He goes the extra mile. Plays hard gives and 100% every night.
I think you do give him the C because of exactly who he is and what this team needs, accountability. |

i don't think anyone gets intimidated.. but for a lot of players it throughs you off your game, you start thinking about the stupid thing he did and how you can get him back. just like kaleta it is all about changing the way someone plays the game, if you can through them off for a few shifts it helps the team in the end..
i think his actual play out side of the licking and kissing is well |

And we all wondered who would make up for the loss of Roy's production
Ott 23 point 8G/15A - Mostly any line duties
Roy 25 points 5G/20A - Mostly 1st line duties

The reality of us finishing in 9th or 10th is extremely disturbing. Every team below us is losing. Can't wait to finish out the season 3-2 for 9th place, so frustrating it's now even funny anymore. |

Please put Grigs to the minors. I cannot stand to watch him have to try to set up Kaleta and John Scott
Patrick Roy for coach, Trade Vanek, Trade Miller and work the youngsters - Beezer33
And Stafford.

I think with him having an A that starts to bring in the accountability aspect already.

I enterpret the statement by Pommer as exactly what he was here. He's glad he's back on a team that already has top tier talent because he was never good enough to carry a team and he never really wanted the responsibility. Its like a rollback to 06-07 for him. |

So.... last season, when he was named captain, and had his best year under his current contract, and lead the team in goals and points, he didnt carry the team or perform under the "pressure" of captain? Okay.

Roy has played in 30 games Ott has played in 43. If you want a good comparison Hodgson has replaced Roys production and Ott has been better all around than Roy. Not trying to split hairs but honestly Ott was more for grit and Hodgson was used to replace Roy on his line and replace his statistics |

Roy plays "mostly any line duties" if you're going by that definition for Ott. He didnt start out on the first line in Dallas, and didnt play long stretches on the first line, And hasnt played 1st line in Vancouver since going there. |

Yeah, and he didnt lead them to they playoffs. Wow, the best player on a non playoff team in a league that allows over 50% of the teams in. Lets hurry up and get him that trophy he is due. |
