Exactly.

When he started checking Jagr well, he went from "Therien" (said like Seinfeld says "Newman") to "Bundy" for me.

- johndewar

If he played the way he played against Jagr ALL the time, he'd be in the Hall of Fame!

This one game could cripple his confidence forever
- funmaster18

I seriously doubt it.

He's just getting a quick glimpse of the pace and demands that go into becoming an NHL'er.

Limit his ice time, place him in situations that he could handle best, and tell him to play his game and have a great time.

They should just dress Schenn and timonen so they can avoid compromising the fragile confidence of these young defensemen.

But this is clearly not the best place for a pro just starting out, it will ruin them. He shouldn't even be an option. They've got Cullen Eddy who's older and has more pro experience. Why throw this kid to the wolves?
- jmatchett383

wow. give it a rest already. you're clearly missing the context of his statement, and just repeating it ad naseum is not going to make you any less off base, and even worse, it isn't funny or entertaining.

The difference is pretty obvious. In a perfect world, without all these injuries he doesn't think we would want to give a young kid a baptism by fire on this horrendous team just to get a look at them in the NHL. But when you're debating on whether to use number 12 or number 13 on the depth chart, all bets are off, and you do what you have to do to ice the best team you can. It's really that simple.

It was nice visiting this thread, talking about hockey in a civilized manner. You should read Cloutiers blogs (he's bi-polar and poorly represents true Oiler fans) and then read the threads.Talk about a gong show! Contant battle with trolls, hardly anyone can agree on the simplest of things, almost no civility, but it's pretty funny.Spend some time there, it will leave yoy shaking your head. Anyway, nice visiting Phillly.

2011 Winter Classic. As the second period ended, Beagle skated up behind Crosby and took a shot at him when no one was looking. Next game was against TB when the Hedman hit made him shut it down, but the Beagle hit was what caused it.

Edit: Sorry, Steckel, not Beagle.

Now you're just making stuff up. Do you want to have a serious conversation or not. Show me where I said it it will ruin them? What was the context of the conversation? Calling up players to the Flyers for the sole reason of getting a look at them at the NHL level? Or being forced to call up players that may not be ready for the NHL, due to a drastic number of injuries to the defense?

I asked you a question earlier, which you dodged. Why are they calling up Konan and Manning? What is the reason for the call up?

- MJL

They are calling them up because their defense is crippled. You never said it would ruin them, but you did say, "This isn't the best place for a new pro to play right now." I don't know how it becomes a better place now that Huskins is hurt. I'd think they'd call up Syvret if anything, as he's not a young pro. What did you mean by that comment?

You said, "I think there are better options available, rather then throwing a kid into a situation that he's not ready for." I'm curious as to what those decisions are, now that we need them.

Maybe the decision was based on... merit?

As others have said, he's not as green as you'd think. Five seasons in the Dub, and almost a full season of pro under his belt... it's a farcry from what they did to Sbisa.

I'm guessing flyers and phantoms management see reason enough to give him a look in a meaningless game for the flyers. That's the perfect time to throw in a player like that.

Better off with Ollie and Konan then. Both are big kids who can play rough. Manning has taken a step sideways this year; injury bug has him playing a little timid.
- AHLTraveler

I think someone told Ollie he would be much better if played with more snarl.

That's fine but he is now getting stupid penalties.

Well he said yesterday that there are "better options available, rather then throwing a kid into a situation that he's not ready for." I'm just wondering what those options are.

No, it was made very clear that is a bad lien of reasoning, to just throw a kid into a situation to have a look at him. That was made very clear yesterday.

I was just making a bad pun, but I actually feel like Gus has acquitted himself nicely with the extra minutes. Lauridsen needs work, but I like his enthusiasm and size.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Konan and Manning have (depending on which one plays).

How come? Does that change your opinion on the moves the flyers make or is it about being right? Just dont understand why it's by ok to disagree with someone and move on.
