Konan has been seeing plenty of PP time with the Phantoms lately. Like Manning last year, he started the AHL season injured and got a late start to his first pro season. He has played much better this year than Ollie did last year in his first pro season. Matt will be overmatched against the Rangers, but he is the type of player who will learn from it.

Manning has had an awful season. Multiple injuries and poor play when he is on the ice. Haven't checked the stats, but he is probably near the worst +/- among defensemen. He was the Phantoms all-star fill-in since Gus was injured at the time.

Good to hear. Hopefully we get to see him tonight.

You can have a "summon others" ability if I can get a "vanish others" one.
We can have a debate over who gets "smite others"...

-28, I believe. Still, Konan's relatively high with a -8.
- jmatchett383

Yup. That's not too pretty. But it looks like the vast majority of the team is sitting in the negative column.

He just seemed a little wound up last night. trying to be too physical
- nastyflyergirl

He looks like he wants to play. He needs some work but this is the type of kid I'd want to work with. He looks as if he wants to be involved, not just on the perimeter, but in the middle of things. And he steps up for his team when needed.

I'd pay special attention to this kid if I were the brass, not just because of his impressive physical makeup and potential, but because he looks like he wants to learn. He wants to do what necessary to stay.

And he showed a pretty nice one-timer the other night

Stats aside, I'd prefer Manning over Konan for the Rangers and Bruins. Big teams that like to get in on the forecheck, Manning is a fairly physical player.

It was nice visiting this thread, talking about hockey in a civilized manner. You should read Cloutiers blogs (he's bi-polar and poorly represents true Oiler fans) and then read the threads.Talk about a gong show! Contant battle with trolls, hardly anyone can agree on the simplest of things, almost no civility, but it's pretty funny.Spend some time there, it will leave yoy shaking your head. Anyway, nice visiting Phillly.

But Konan isn't ready. Why not just call up Manning. What makes you think Konan can play in the NHL?
- jmatchett383

They want to have 7 defenseman. I never said Konan is ready to play in the NHL.The truth is just like you, I have no idea if he is or not. Flyers are where on the depth chart for defenseman in the Organization at this point?

Yup. Over the next 6 games, I'd work them both in and out of the lineup. See if any one of Manning, Konan, or Lauridsen stick for next season.

visit anytime

in regards to trading couts, my personal feeling is he won't be traded unless it is for a true top pairing defenseman, and someone who is under 30 hopefully

otherwise they have no business trading him

I can chime in as needed. Actually still have our season tickets and drive up every weekend. Hit many of the road games too, except weekdays in Portland or Rochester.

But this is clearly not the best place for a pro just starting out, it will ruin them. He shouldn't even be an option. They've got Cullen Eddy who's older and has more pro experience. Why throw this kid to the wolves?

1 game at the end of a season will ruin a kids development? We don't even know he will be dressing for the game..

Yes, this team is NOT the place to put a young kid.

Now you're just making stuff up. Do you want to have a serious conversation or not. Show me where I said it it will ruin them? What was the context of the conversation? Calling up players to the Flyers for the sole reason of getting a look at them at the NHL level? Or being forced to call up players that may not be ready for the NHL, due to a drastic number of injuries to the defense?

I asked you a question earlier, which you dodged. Why are they calling up Konan and Manning? What is the reason for the call up?

Better off with Ollie and Konan then. Both are big kids who can play rough. Manning has taken a step sideways this year; injury bug has him playing a little timid.
