I don't disagree with any of you. I just feel that Briere goes for sure, and Bryz stays one more season. That isn't what I would do, it is just what I think the Flyers do.
- MBFlyerfan

Yeah Briere is almost for sure gone sounds like he knows it too and you're right the Flyers could very well keep him for one more year. I think it depends on if they feel they need his cap space or not. Off topic but Im really excited to Couts gaining some confidence looking like the kid we saw last season.

I think they are both gone. This is the only year left to get rid of up to 2 contracts with no cap penalties. If they wait till next year they lose cap space so roll the dice on mason and a real vet backup that can play 20 games not named Boucher or leighton
- MrPerfect316

is this right? I thought this year and next are the same re: buyouts.

They can use compliance buyouts this summer or next. They do not have to buy out Bryzgalov this summer to remove his cap hit.

Mason looks like he is playing for his career, I like what I see. Especially like his stickhandling which can help the d get the puck out of the zone.
- ravishingone

He's a young goalie also. Will be able to develop and grow with this current group.

Nope. Compliance buyouts are available until the summer of 2014. Each team gets two. If they use them both this summer, they don't get any next summer.

Just looked it up and you are correct. Briere can go, keep Bryz if he will split games and not whine

I think Briere is 100% gone. I'm not sure on Bryz yet, i guess it depends on how Mason progresses and if we need the cap. If there was a top dman in FA to get ( there isn't ) i'd say Bryz is 100% gone.

That's what I've been saying.

People preach this team needs to free up cap space....for what? A better question is, for who??

I hope you are right. Sometimes being really close to being out of the league can bring the best out of a guy. I think Mason has all the skill, but got complacent after his rookie year and couldn't get it back on track. I hope to read he spends plenty of time in Philly over the summer working on his game.

Pronged = ltir
- MrPerfect316

Yep and it's much easier to navigate cap space with $4.9 million from the beginning as oppossed to using that space later as necessary. $10.5 LTIR would be devastating.
