Bring in another top 4 d-man and push N.Shultz to the bottom pairing full time
- Lahey

It'd be interesting to them try to construct a deal around Nick Schultz + and Brian Campbell. It kind of makes sense for both sides: They get a proven guy back and we get cap relief from now until when we have the kids re-signed. We'd still have to sign a good bottom 6 guy or two, but maybe something like

Freaking ridiculous. We finally get a goaltender that can consistently put up above average numbers behind a team who we've all agreed has significant defensive issues and we try to run him out of town! We're not supposed to be Vancouver and yet here we are running a good goalie- albeit one who lets in bad goals now and again- ragged because our team hasn't lived up to the needlessly lofty expectations some of us had. Sounding at all familiar?
- MaximumBone

Well put. In no way I'm I going to crown Dubnyk's play at times but technically speaking, goaltending is simply not an issue right now.

Some may believe he is "not the guy" or doesn't have "it" and that's fine but it remains to be seen.

He seems like a bit of a headcase. But you can get really good goaltending out of headcases for a really long time, case in point Hextall, Roy and to a lesser extent Luongo.

It's the same argument I was having with Prock about Gagner two years ago. Ideal 2nd line centre? no. But at that juncture pretty close to the least of our problems.

Well apparently in Winnipeg Big Buff is available- or at least their blogger wants to see what we would give- I say gags and a 2014 pick would likely do it...

Consolidate man!

In the other thread I said 1st + Gernat. Maybe I'm a little stingier than you...

Then again, if we were prepared to trade the 2013 it might be more valuable.

Ever since the Brian Burke episode, where he bragged about his Cups as a player and took shots at Burke about Bobby Ryan being a bust, I lost all respect for Lowe because he was just being an @sshole. Burke was just being honest, Lowe was a whining baby making up sh!t. This Lowe has to be the biggest pr!ck exec in the league. Such a fu&king joke how he brings Howsen and Mac T back, are you Fu&king kidding me. He defends his record because of 1 season as a Cinderella 8th seed. The rest of his record proves that was only a fluke. Penner, Souray, Smyth, trading Stoll and Greene, this guy is a total fu&king joke.

Well, I'll add that wienerish-ness certainly made him an awful human being to play against. We could use some K-Lowe on the ice for sure.

However, he could certainly temper some his arrogance in the media at times but whatever.

If true, begs the question though, why the hell do they want rid of him and if I'm following correctly, can we reform the bloody guy?

I dont' see Campbell as an option. Never did, never will. Guy didn't want to leave CHI in the first place. If he can once again be convinced to waive his NTC/NMC it had to be to an actual playoff team.

Likely Oil lineup.. Hall-Gagner-Yakupov, Paajarvi-RNH-Eberle, Lander-Horcoff-Hartikainen, Petrell-Smyth-Brown, Top 2 pairs + Fistric-Potter.

Gregor said Peckham was in though, so who knows.

Can't believe Smyth is still playing.

Because he's lazy, but I counter with the guy still produces and plays big minutes.

Yeah, and I suppose the threat of an amnesty buyout is not that great for that sort of guy.

I watched the press conference again today. Wow did low look like a douche. He sounded defensive, angry, arrogant... What was this "we chased the dream for a while" but that wasn't right for our fan base. How is going for the cup not right?

If I remember correctly we went to rebuild mode the year after. That was his claim to fame for his whole career with the oil and one reporter "that was 7 years ago." I laughed out loud. Then he claims we have only been rebuilding for 3 years.

In the end we get rid of a terrible GM to find ourselves back to the same people that got us into this mess for so many years and a coach that can't.

I think there will be good money betting against the Oil next year.

Maybe they are letting him playout his final games?? did you read mchockey and his blog about how coaching is to blame for players being worse than last year... he makes some good pts.

They may bring in players but I bet the coaching will (frank) this team up again next year... I just hope they (frank)ing can Lowe by Christmas... (frank)ing dummy is living in the past- stating he knows how to win- yet at the exec level he has failed and then you couple with MacT's words of how the game has changed... its quite amazing how they countered eachother in that presser...

I think it's a pittance. I'd hope they bring his career to a conclusion this summer, but benching him from now on out is a tacit admission that he's a cancer. In reality, the big problem is that he's a guy for whom the game has passed him by and he's not ready to admit it. From a PR standpoint, just grit your teeth and have him there.

The big mark of confusion there is dragging Lander and Harti out of OKC again. I understand they want to "open training camp early", so to speak, but they're dangling positions for these guys that really shouldn't be going to them next year anyway, all the while pointing the middle finger to a guy like Smithson that could very well (have) come back next year.

I don't get how it's a good PR move to play him. There isn't exactly a lot of fans that think he's any good. Even so what the (frank) do they care about PR?

Smithson was ST's guy so who knows. I don't mind seeing Lander/Harti because truthfully if they aren't good enough we need to make damn sure we have better players next year. That and both could be on the chopping block. If we are to make a big move, say for a top pairing d-man, one or both could be wanted by other teams.

I like that line. I'd also like Hall-Horcoff-Yaks as well. I think there was a glaring lack toughness on the much lauded PJ-Gagner-Yaks line and a bit of a lack of autonomy from the Hall-Nuge-Ebs line and that hopefully will be solved this off-season.
