Leafs are developing as a team, and collectively believe themselves to be in every game they play. We've proven this year that we're not gonna go away without a fight, and it creates a positive atmosphere around the fan base. Well Kadri is having a great season... I'm still not 100 percent sold on him. Never considered him a bust before.. but doesn't mean that this season isn't a surprise to many many people.

But I will hold my opinion for a couple more years.. and see how consistent he can be.

Ah forget him my friend, i hope for his sake they don't hit the toilet like it seems it will go down, he's throwing everything and the kitchen sink at us to make sure we're not having fun, but he doesn't understand how great it feels to have a really good team after such a long drought. He can point to the past and try and hang on to the thread of negativity he can, to make himself feel better about our success, but its not gonna do anything for him when we keep winning. This team is furreal, the comraderie, the system, the collective energy within the dressing room not to mention in Leaf nation is growing stronger, and with proper belief, anything is possible. The Leafs can do some great things this year, and round 1 can and will just be the beginning =). GO LEAFS GO!!!

Those contracts were becoming popular around that time... there was half a dozen or so within that year with the same ridiculously long contract.

I've said it numerous times... Gillis would have just as tough of a time trying to deal Lu with him having 4-5 years left with a 7-7.5 million dollar cap hit than his 9 years left at 5.3. It makes almost no difference.. at least this way.. a team willing to take the gamble will be very content with the cap hit.

Cap going down... all star caliber goalie with a 5.3 million cap hit is looking pretty good right about now. Especially if Jimmy Howard is signing with that same cap hit. And you got guys like cam ward and miller making much more.
