To qualify, you have to meet a certain standard in a previous marathon (known as BQing). So using that as a guideline, you'd only be getting men over the age of 60 or so and women over the age of 50 or older.

Basically, if it was terrorists, these terrorists are stupid.

Though, a gas line explosion would probably be pretty big.

Doesn't look like there's any structural damage anywhere.

Unconfirmed, but I heard trash can bombs...those are not generally that big. Idk I have no idea.

I swear to God, at noon today, I just sent $600 to a photographer - bought a photo of the Boston Public Library and the iron-wrought entrance to the Copley T Staion.

that's the strategy you see fairly often... set of a bomb near a group of people, to send them running towards the next ones. You saw it in London, and plenty of times in the middle east.

Silver lining: some of the injured were rushed to the medical tent, which was set up just beyond the finish line. There were medical staff ready to treat runners, who are being used.

yes... but that's what's frightening... some idiot can set off 2 more bombs, and have at least one more primed to go, at a heavily guarded event.

The argument can be made that this person simply wasn't on the radar, but still. Disconcerting.
