I'm sure the majority of Edmonton fans are happy you aren't the actual GM. You would constantly tank, not realizing that your good players are going to walk if the team doesn't ever get better or never take the next step because they were developed in such a losing environment. Your fellow GMs would also lose it with your "win-win" trade proposals that always seem to net you a first or second and a top prospect, but never give up anyone of value.

This team needs a goalie with talent, not potential; it needs a 3/4 pair of lock it down d-men; and it needs some leadership -- some guys who have actually won something, understand what it takes to win, and can express that knowledge verbally or by example. Eberle will eventually be this guy, but a mentor for him couldn't hurt.

I love the way fans of teams that have never won anything dispense advice about losing environments, leadership and what the team needs.

The Oilers will be just fine and Tambellini is in a position where he doesn't have to panic and make a bone headed trade just to satisfy impatient fans.

These ideas of a losing culture don't have any legitimacy. If the Oilers weren't showing improvement it may be a slight concern but the truth is they are an improved team.

I love the way we the fans of a team that hasn't won anything significant in a long time dispense advice to one another about losing environments, leadership, and what the team needs.

You see? Just because they don't cheer for a perennial contender, doesn't mean their opinions aren't valid. The opposite is also true...

He might be the last guy I want, but the first guy I'd call. He really pushes his players, but I feel that his current system wouldn't work here with the Oil. Although, if he were to return to the system he used in his time in Tampa, I could definitely see a fit.

I think he can bring a whole culture change for the Oil

Yes buddy right (frank)ing on... Richard (frank)ing cloutier is the reason everyone hates the Oilers. Gimme a (frank)ing break.... Everyone hates you because you keep drafting 1st overall and still sucking.

YEs yes yes let me here it... ohhhhhhh Penguins got sid ... ohhhhhh... at least we win

- #71 & #87 R HOCKEY

You totally ignore a great many facts which you claim don't lie. The Penguins have had more than their share of dismal years and have gone through the rebuilding process a number of times.

At least you win?

The Oilers have a significantly higher franchise winning percentage so perhaps you should check some facts.

Again, though, I don't want him demanding that our top stars block shots too often. Unnecessary injuries are NOT what we need.

letang in the third round? drafting hasn't been a strong or a weak point, but when one can trade the way shero does
- ChrisMS

Yeah a couple snipes.

We'll see just how far Hartikainen (6th), Petry (2nd), Gernat (5th), and Khaira (3rd) go before we pass judgment. We have shanked a lot of 2nd rounders though...

Callahan blocks a ton. He doesn't get injured very often haha. Maybe they need to start being treated like men and stop being babied? no?

I agree, but in the case I was referencing it seems material to the discussion. There also isn't a one size fits all solution to building a winning program.

As for Canuck fans I don't know what to say. Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.

I get tired of the crap people throw at the Oiler fans. Certain individuals seem to feel they have a part in the success of the team they cheer for. Canuck fans just seem new at cheering for a franchise that was long overdue for some level of success.

Maybe the coach should be given more than 40 games before passing judgement. The last number of years its been a coaching carousel in Edmonton and the last thing the team needs is another coaching change.

- Ales Hemsky didn't play in the Flames game, this we know. Another show of hands: How many people missed him? The Oilers really should have dealt him at the deadline.

UMMM ... we have gone over this millions of times. You are such a roller coaster with him. After all, weren't you the guy that said this tease was worth a first plus a prospect? He is still an Oiler because NO ONE WANTS TO DEAL FOR HIM AND HIS FIVE MILLION CAP HIT NEXT YEAR. This guy is the tease of all teases.

No one worth to sign as a college free agent? Eric Hartzell was someone Edmonton should have tried. It needs a quality goalie prospect.
