Oh, now it's one more year of rebuild Cloutier, I thought next year was supposed to be the year the Oilers finally make the playoffs(for sure) & possibly do some damage??
Man are you all over the map with regards to this team. One minute they're the greatest young team in the NHL, the next you're saying they're a long ways off.
Which is it?? The latter if you watched their pathetic effort against an AHL team last night, no heart, no grit, no nothing.
To me, they've quit on Krueger who's a loser coach himself.
Keep up the great work Cloutier, maybe another 2yrs of drafting in the top 5 will get you the players you think will win you a championship, then again, the rebuild has been going on forever. - newmy

No I'm saying we should get one but no one wants to do it full time so we should take turns each doing it for a week or a month. - Morris

Nope. Hall, Nuge and Yaks picks took no creativity whatsoever whereas Malkin and Crosby were off the board picks that stunned the hockey world. |

True... I do believe Crosby and Malkin were both expected to go in the 6th round. Great picks by the Pens. Fantastic scouting. |

well really... not defending a-hole, but nuge and hall and yaks were also arguably the best choices at the time |

I agree. All I was saying was that the guys that were surefire guys at their spots happen to be world-class talents, so some 1st overalls are obviously not on par with others.
Although, to play devil's advocate: in 2011 and again in 2012 there was a lot of talk about how the Oilers needed to ignore BPA and take a dman. Larsson over Nuge and Murray over Yak was considered the 'prudent' path. In that odd way, there was a certain kind 'courage' involved in taking the BPA. Not saying that we for sure made the perfect selections, as I can only speculate what it would be like if we picked differently.

We should register a joint Oilers fan account and take turns being the Oilers' ref, since no one wants to do it full time - Morris
Honestly, I'd do it full time, but I don't think anyone else would want me to. Not to mention how bad I'd be at it. |

Hypothetically, if we pick Seguin over Hall, than we'd be less likely to have taken Nuge the next year and probably would have taken Larsson (Landy was not as much on the radar, or was considered the fool-hardy pick since we had Gagner as C/W, Paajarvi and Eberle). This would have had three consequences :we A) We might not have taken Klefbom at 19 (Tyler Biggs? Stefan Noesen?) B) We probably would have built around D as opposed to O and picked Murray. C) This probably would mean that Schultz may not have chosen Edmonton.
Interesting to consider. |

WOW! There is the Mark Streit crush again.... Clouts seriously! why do you like this dude so much???? I hope the Oilers sign him just for you to bash at him and call him "useless vet" after one period on a pre-season game. Honestly, please explain what is it with your attraction to him? You mention him in 98% of your blogs, and as far as I know, he has not done ANYTHING of significance.
And yes, the guy is -1 million, and you are proposing he is a 1-2 Defensive pairing??? You are completely out of your mind! Specially since the Islanders do not suck so bad this year so the +/- does say something.
Other than that, yesterday's loss was humiliating. A disgrace, I am sorry for all the fans who went to the game. Today I am ashamed to be an Oiler fan, I do not want to see any more of the season until next year and I do not even want to see Krueger's face in "Oil Change" talking about how much of a process this should be....
Let's bring a coach who is harder on these kids. Somebody who has the b...s to get them in the rink at 5 am working their butts off after an embarassing loss like this. |

He might be the last guy I want, but the first guy I'd call. He really pushes his players, but I feel that his current system wouldn't work here with the Oil. Although, if he were to return to the system he used in his time in Tampa, I could definitely see a fit. |
