it was funny how oil fans were saying while 1 bring on the rest of this season was that there gonna destroy cgy the rest of the reason and then cgy pooped on them last night |
|
|
|
so, a few things
hemsky either got little interest or the low cost of vets (exception pominville) scared off edm. he might fetch more next year... (allthough not close the the first and prospect you keep raving about)
you raved about the fistric trade...
still want a rookie in your top 6? (klefbom) worked out great for you this year
wary smith.. bryz was great playing for pheonix, smith was awful prior to pheonix... better trade optons might be out there... luongo, bernier, hiller,,, etc.
try to lure a couple decent free agents, let the young kids mature and draft another potential stud. hire a better coach... |

"If you're wondering why the Oilers aren't trying to sign any NCAA players, there really isn't much out there to sign. I'm thinking the Oilers are at their contract limit, anyway. Someone was telling me Danny DeKeyser is playing well so far for Detroit. Five games so far, no points, -1. That sounds more different than good."
Missed out on Ruhdewel but there are still some good players left. Trevor Van Riemsdyk is pretty good and has some size too. He'd probably be an improvement over 2 or 3 of the current regulars on the Oilers D. |

I agree with the hemsky thing. I still like fistric, I like him as a 6/7 guy. Klefbom will be playing in OKC. I completely agree with the assessment of smith as i have used the same arguement, tho Dubie is the rightful starter here. |

The problem is they need a top 2/4 guy on D that will make an immediate impact. |

Has there ever been a team to ice so many high draft picks and be so consistently awful every year? I mean it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.... I've seen teams completely turn around after 1 first over all draft pick. Oilers have had how many?
I think it's time to start trading some of these youthful assets for proven NHL talent and keep a core of 3-5 guys and build around them.
Being this bad while having such a plethora of highly touted youth is getting to the point of unacceptable |

I admire edm fans loyalty to dubnyk... but I think its running its course.... sure the d has been fairly awful in front of him, but he also hasn't been as good as e should have. he's old enough now that most, i repeat most, goalies have cemented their status as a number one. always exceptions of course |

I'm sure the majority of Edmonton fans are happy you aren't the actual GM. You would constantly tank, not realizing that your good players are going to walk if the team doesn't ever get better or never take the next step because they were developed in such a losing environment. Your fellow GMs would also lose it with your "win-win" trade proposals that always seem to net you a first or second and a top prospect, but never give up anyone of value.
This team needs a goalie with talent, not potential; it needs a 3/4 pair of lock it down d-men; and it needs some leadership -- some guys who have actually won something, understand what it takes to win, and can express that knowledge verbally or by example. Eberle will eventually be this guy, but a mentor for him couldn't hurt. |
