Smyth,Horcoff and Hemsky need to go and Im sure the Oilers can get something for the last two or just buyout Horcoff....agree with PRV been a 3rd line player,Oilers need a big winger that can score and fight on that Second line to play with Gagner and Yak.

What about Hemsky for a guy like Nikita Nikitin? He's a boom or bust guy who right now is playing #6 minutes in the dog house on Columbus. Could be a good change of scenery for both players - There's a high likelihood Prospal retires and Hemmer could be an okay replacement for a year.

1) Dubey is not a game changing goaltender- he never steals games for this team- albeit he keeps them in it- but the gaffes are consistent and it is the difference between 2 pts and no pts
2) The wins with Horcoff on the ice is simple- its faceoff wins- this team cant win enough faceoffs to save its life... further the man is a complete liability in the offensive zone-
3) Smithson is a fail- would have been better off keeping the 4th and icing Belanger- is he really injured or does he want out or??
4) Smyth and Hemsky can go- they make no difference on this team- further the more I see Petrell the more I agree he and Jones can go as well... Further the entire bottow 6 can get blown up- with the exception of MPS and Brown
5) Buh Bye poopney, Fistric, Potter and Peckham- I liked Fistric at first- due to those big sexy hits he threw when he first came- now he is always out of position or turning the puck over...
6) Our biggest need by far is a top2 DMAN- if we do anything this offseason we need to fill that need

With Hall, Paajarvi, Hemsky, Yakupov, Petry, Schultz, and even Horcoff for his age, it's not a stretch to say we're one of the faster teams in the NHL. Then with guys like Gagner, Whitney, Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins, we seem like we'd be one of the smarter teams too.

How does a team that's so fast and so smart, being coached by a European (who generally emphasize these qualities) end up so bottled up and so boneheaded? I think it's because without a credible threat to play any other way (gritty, simple, powerful) other teams are able to scout us more easily than perhaps any other team in the league.

We're all four-seam fastball and no changeup. Actually, maybe we're more like a knuckleball pitcher, with nothing else to fall back on.

Quinn was same deal as Burke - "fired upstairs" until they could find work elsewhere as a face-saving measure. I'm not sure if Quinn ever really stepped into the Oilers offices after being turfed as coach.
