Gotta disagree with that one. Which of their young stars did Chicago trade before becoming a contender? They got to the level they did through great prospect development (Versteeg, Keith, Seabrook, Byfuglien, Toews, Kane), big time FA signings (Hossa, Campbell, Kopecky, Madden, Niemi), and quality asset management (Ruutu for Ladd in particular). This should be around the time that, if they're is following their script, management will begin shopping for significant FAs.

Please for the love of God make an impact this offseason

Exactly! Ladd had won a cup with Carolina, and Madden with the Devils. Add a UFA or trade the first round pick for a proven winner! Hall, Eberle, RNH, Gagner, Yakupov, Schultz et al, are a talented enough core group to win a cup with. Add a Ladd and a Madden to calm them down. Too many highs and lows. Consistency is the key that comes with experience. A solid veteran or two can accelerate the process.

You actually read that?
- systemtool

Sadly, yes. Despite being one of the most scarring things I've ever read, it was beautifully written. The imagery- while repulsive and sexually explicit- painted a brilliant picture that will, unfortunately, forever be burned into my mind...

I aim to please.

Dude though seriously, that was not explicit. If I had more time to write I would've made it even more detailed but I spared you people because it was already too long.

need to go after a cup winning vet like Cleary.

Really pushing Dangerous Dan Cleary.
I don't think he is the guy this team needs. But maybe on the fourth line?

Well now you have something new to use to get rid of boners you might develop in the wrong place/time.

Looking at your lineup for next season, where is the calming veteran influence? All the young guns need is a leader in the room who knows how to win. When they are on a high, they are lights out, but then they lose confidence and lose 5 in a row. They need a calming influence to keep them on an even keel, then they will be contenders. Trade the first round pick for forward and/or defenseman who has been on winning teams. You don't need anymore 18/19 years olds in the lineup. The core to win now is there, all they need is somebody to teach them how to forget last game and focus on the next game. Confidence is fragile with a youthful core. I would say this team is 2 players away from contending in the west, but those 2 players aren't coming via the draft. They will come via trade, and that 8th overall pick is a nice chip to have in play.

Thanks tips, pretty sure every Oiler fan is aware of the fact that our veterans suck. Unfortunatly, we are just fans who cant actually make trades, or fire GM's. We just get to sit here and watch poopty season after poopty season and celebrate (frank)ing gay draft lottery parties , and listen to geniuses like you point out the obvious. I'm all for trading a draft pick or 2 to fill a hole. Or maybe even a 2 for 1 special with one of our kids for a couple tough, experienced leaders. Unfortunately, with the limited number of assets at the teams disposal, a bad trade could be devestating. So realistically, free agency and the draft are the only real options at this point.Hopefully another year of development adds value to some prospects, or maybe even fills a roster hole as well.

I don't think Jankowski was a good first round pick, but I've seen him play a lot at Providence College and he seems to be a good player. Give him some more time to develop and I think he will be serviceable. Are those defensemen you got from the Pens any good? I know they are getting the one from Quinnipiac (sp) pretty soon right?

- RickJames77

they got 2 Lw from the pens, no D
