Despite his flaws, Vanek is still a very good player. He has the right attitude to move forward with a young group of guys. Leino will get another shot next year.
An offseason miller and stafford deal to a team that needs to spend money to get off the cap floor makes the most sense.

Agreed, which IMO Leino and Stafford will still be here.

You can't move all 4 and still be at the cap floor IMO, unless they plan on taking on some of said players cap hit (ie: Pommer), or they take on other teams poopty contracts.

How long of a duration will they need to be "serious" before winning the cup? Cup winners need a Veteran presence too. If we all want hecht, stafford, miller, Vanek out....Ott may not make it past 4 years. You need more than Ott. Vanek is your guy.

Ugh, there really aren't any appealing UFA's on the market this year anyways. Maybe Bozak if the Leafs don't resign him and we absolutely need another center... otherwise I'd be wary of the FA market.

really? I thought everyone was bonkers over him just a month ago... talking future captain of an NHL team and all....


I wouldn't mind Jerrod Smithson as our 4th line center... Porter is already under contract and he is better suited to be a 4th liner rather than a 3rd liner.
