What difference does it make to us where they draft?
- Rseen

Because, if the Flyers were picking somewhere in the 20s they would get a good pick but nothing like a top 10. If we were to get a top 10 and they weren't, it would be the perfect scenario. Thats what I meant, not that it matters though.

Rangers win in OT just another nail in the coffin

However, Tampa came back and lost in OT and Carolina won. Edmonton lost though, man they can't even beat Calgary, WTF.

it's incredible. for the last week we've received literally zero help from every team we're trying to catch. In addition to us outplaying opponents and losing in OT, SO, 1 goal regulation.. it's unbelievable. ridiculous.

I was so pissed when I got up an seen that EDM lost it pisses me off like how many top 3 picks do you need like start moving forward and quit trying to lose or your plan hasn't been working and you're team is just sh*t but still they shouldn't be allowed to pick in the top 10 for the next 10 years they should be punished for sucking for so long like we got punished for the kovy signing

I still feel like we got completely screwed with Kovy deal in regard to other contracts sign before and since then like Crosby, Parise, Pronger, Hossa, Loungo, and Weber's contracts. First the trapezoid and then the contract.

Also, Tampa and Buffalo play each other today, so hopefully Tampa wins in OT.

Season is lost, this team needs an overhaul on defense in my opinion. Part of me wonders why have a high pick if they're gonna do what they've done with Larsson, so that makes me ask one question about the upcoming draft:

Are there any "NHL ready" forwards?

Larsson was "NHL ready" and this team makes him warm the bench for stretches at a time.

They need to move some of these old slow decrepit defensemen if for nothing else than to get Larsson on the ice consistently.

I'd like to see them keep Larsson, Fayne, and Greene as 3 of the top 6. Need to let A-Train, Salvador, Tallinder, and Zidlicky all go. All are horrible in their own end. All are pylons. All are sloooooooooooow.

Let Merrill, Gelinas, and/or Urbom play. They all have enough experience, either they can cut it or they can't, enough is enough. Hopefully they'll roll all 3 but we all know that would never happen under Lou Lams. Sadly, I think it's what's needed.

At least give two of those 3 kids a shot out of camp & move all the other dead weight for a REAL defensemen.

Larsson, Fayne, Greene, Merrill, Urbom/Gelinas, FA acquisition.

That's what I'd like to see.

The offense will come around. If this was a full season they'd be able to get the 8 seed. Not this year. It is what it is, I just hope they get an impact player from the draft. And by impact, I mean in the NHL next year. Enough babying these guys. How many other teams aren't afraid to throw the kids in the frying pan? If you can play you can play. I don't buy the "confidence" bullpoop. That's just my opinion on it all.

Time to read up on some of these draft prospects.

It will all depend on what old guys Lu keeps if the forward we take in the first round will be given a legitament shot at a roster spot or if it will be given to steve sullivan or petr sykor lmao

They are letting Larsson learn the game from the defensive side, and he has made huge strides from last season. He hasn't been put in an offensive role yet, but I think that will come next season. He is still really young. Look at a guy like Petroangelo in STL. In his first full season he had 40 something points and in his 2nd season he had 50 something and was a beast. These were 3 and 4 years after being drafted. Maybe Larsson takes longer, but I am confident he will be a #1 D man, he has all the tools.

I think Merill and Gelinas need a full season in the AHL next season before getting a roster spot in the NHL. Urbom could be ready to challenge for a spot next season, unless Lou doesn't get rid of 1 of the D men.

Remember next year we can't afford to play all of the young players, just to get them NHL experience. We have to try to compete because we are probably going to give up the pick next season.

Sweet. So we have Merrill, Burlon, Urbom, Gelinas, and now Severson in the AHL can't wait for the future.

exactly. I see some of you want the kids to play next year.. remember they're kids and need experience. Not a chance I would start 2 or 3 of Merrill, Gelinas, Urbom, Burlon, whoever else you think is "ready". Larsson is young and inexperienced enough. I'd be comfortable with taking on one more.
I'm down with dumping Zidlicky, Volchenkov and Tallinder, but I still like what Salvador brings as a defensive defenseman. He's not the fastest at his age, but he's still smart, physical and makes some great defensive plays. A solid guy to have in the top 6.
We'll probably keep Tallinder, his deal expires next year.. may be dealt at the deadline. We'll probably see something like..
Greene-Larsson
Urbom/Volchenkov-Salvador
Tallinder-Fayne
Harrold

His statline would suggest he had a very good season. I wonder if he gets an invite to the team Canada u20 camp.

I don't think the Devils need a complete overhaul on defense. Just an offensive d-man and some growth from Larsson. They do lead the league in lowest shots on goal against per game and you don't do that if your d-men are garbage.

Merrill should be ready sometime next year. Larsson will be a year better. Perhaps they add another offensive d-man via free agency or trade. They should be able to trade Tallinder even if it isn't for very much. Just to unload the money would be a plus. Otherwise Greene is very good, Salvador is reliable and Volchenkov is steady when he is healthy.

I think a few things have conspired against us but the main thing is a lack of creativity from the forwards and a need for one more mobile guy from the back. I personally also think Clarkson is playing with some type of injury. To go from how he played in the first half to the second, it seems to me like something has to be wrong. He went from all-star caliber play to healthy-scratch worthy...if he is indeed healthy. Huge factor to complete non-factor. While he was undoubtedly playing over his head early in the season, to go to the way he played in the second half...

I believe Harrold is a UFA this summer, in which case I hope we don't re-sign him, just doesn't make sense. I agree that Tallinder, Volchenkov, and definitely Salvador will still be around, barring something at the deadline.
