There seems to be a very real chance that Malkin will be held out of tonight's game because of severe sunburn. Warmups could be revealing.

What. The. (frank). ?.

Did he forget to use sunscreen ?

There's zero reason to fire him now. There was plenty of reason back in March, but they decided to keep him on for whatever reason. Now thank him for 2010 and the top ten pick this year, curse him for burying Bob after 20 minutes of playoff experience and pray he hasn't stunted Couturier's development by continuing to use him with Hall and Rosehill.
- Jsaquella

I saw some nice signs from Couturier playing with read and Simmonds today. One can only think about how farther along Couturier would be if he was used differently this Season. I like Laviolette. And he's had some success in the League. But this was one of the worst Coaching performances during a Season, I've seen in a while.

Having one concussion generally means you are more prone to getting another, and more severe.

Yes.

If you're worried about injury history, I guess that means Giordano is off your wish list.

Exactly. Its a safe comment, that leaves no room for anyone to engage.

Like saying "they played badly today".

Nothing new. Again, if my opinions effect you so greatly, feel free to ignore them. Or continue with this napolean smartass complex.

Anyway hoooligans, off for the day. This season has made me a little more loopy than normal haha.

Good day, and good hockey

- flyer_nutter

Actually it's the opposite. With a young team, stating that the goal is to win the Cup, is not a safe comment.

Can't argue with this. I just hope it means a hiring of one of the junior coaches we've all discussed and not a retread of coaches of recent firings elsewhere (or Ted Nolan).

I can not recall a kid, whose organization held him in as high regard as the Flyers supposedly do Couturier, who had two years of basically playing almost exclusively with goons and grinders at ages 19 & 20.

I get that the defensive skills are good and he can excel as a third line checking center, but c'mon - give him some wings that will help in the O zone.

Nope, non required. I have not felt this beat after a week of work in a long time. Really out of practice. Everything took twice as long as it usually does.

Yeah, but you got to develop him. He's not a 29 year old Steve Kasper. At some point the Flyers expect this kid to be Dave Poulin or Rod Brind'Amour.

If anything it hurts his development.

People can offer arguments about Laviolette's coaching not being the issue and by blaming the players for being dumb or not working hard enough and might sway me.

But his handling of Couturier alone is enough reason for me to want him gone. Bury him with goons and then bench him when he makes a mistake with the puck? There's no logic to using Couturier as much as he does with unskilled linemates.

you know I thought they handled him great last year, getting him time on the ice and on PK.

this year I think they wanted to see how he would do with more ice time, but he had a terrible year

I don't know if it is solely on the coach, he really had a bad sophomore slump which happens

It was time to advance the player, and put him in a better situation. Unless they think he's going to be a 4th line Center/PKer his whole career.

Last year they did a good job. They hand fed him his minutes and gave him opportunities at 5 on 5 with decent wingers, but didn't push him.

This year he has struggled. But at the same time, when he's made a mistake, it's like he gets benched until they need him on a PK. Can't have a kid playing scared, or else he'll make more mistakes.

The way they used him this year he would of been better off playing with the Phantoms and centering the first line.
