Its bad luck, but shouldnt be used as an excuse anymore. With the concussion history, and injury history of a lot of these guys nobody should be suprised.

I'd like to see management take more of that into consideration when bringing in players, in the future. I dont think they do so enough. As well as when handing out long term deals.

Thats the solution to limiting bad luck.

- flyer_nutter

I'd settle for keeping their draft picks, and stop handing out NTCs

Have seen nothingof him.

How is he defensively?

Attitude?

From ISS "Valery Nichushkin Hands are as dominating as his size. Ability to takeover a game. Has that "Wow" factor that scouts like."

I bring up those players because of Concussion histories...
- flyer_nutter

I don't think we are gonna agree on this.

Giroux gets a concussion last season by Simmonds trying to jump over him while he down on the ice. Does that mean he is prone to concussions or a random play happened in a violent sport.

Simmonds gets hurt on a viscous elbow to the face, does that make him prone to injury?

Yeah, if he's willing to sign and come over, there should be zero hesitation.
- Jsaquella

Agreed, they'll have a choice of a really good player.

How can not so hot Lava keep his job?
- LJF

There's zero reason to fire him now. There was plenty of reason back in March, but they decided to keep him on for whatever reason. Now thank him for 2010 and the top ten pick this year, curse him for burying Bob after 20 minutes of playoff experience and pray he hasn't stunted Couturier's development by continuing to use him with Hall and Rosehill.

Having one concussion generally means you are more prone to getting another, and more severe.

Yes.

Perhaps you would prefer if I made such dramatic statements like, "the goal is to win a cup every season".
- flyer_nutter

That's not dramatic at all. If you asked Paul Holmgren, or Peter Luuko, or Ed Snider what the goal is each Season. What do you think they would say? This is pretty basic stuff.

I see...Talbot breaking his leg on a hit , yup they should have seen that coming. Rinaldo getting pushed over and spraining his ankle, should have seen that. Coburn getting checked into the boards and separating his shoulder, should have known that.

In a high speed sport with high impact people will get hurt.

As a side note..

Sam Carchidi
@BroadStBull
All injured Flyers will miss rest of yr, Homer said. That includes Rinaldo.

- opeth_pa

Flyers should know better then to bring those players in.

I remember this name from the WJC's. 21 and has been playing in the KHL since 09 so he has experience against pro's. Right handed shooting dman, really took a step forward this year offensively scoring 18 points (7 goals) in 49 games.

Supposed to be a really good skater, decent KHL stats. Not a huge kid, but according to Elite prospects he's got good hockey sense.

I dont think Yandle is a true #1 but I also dont feel like hes as bad defensively as people think either. Hes not outstanding but with this current group of stay at home defenseman he would be perfect.
- stveshdy

Yandle is not a liability, he is adequate in his own end. He would add some elements to the team that would help them. But I wouldn't label him as being a perfect fit. They would have to use him the right way. He's not an all situations player.

I didn't see today's abortion, except for the goal. Laviolette can read me saying, "Best wishes" when he's fired after the season.

Exactly. Its a safe comment, that leaves no room for anyone to engage.

Like saying "they played badly today".

Nothing new. Again, if my opinions effect you so greatly, feel free to ignore them. Or continue with this napolean smartass complex.

Anyway hoooligans, off for the day. This season has made me a little more loopy than normal haha.

Good day, and good hockey

This was the only reason I was not worried at all if they didn't make the playoffs. This would be a season to benefit from that with a solid prospect and even solid picks in the top 3 rounds.

Not in every case. Generally, if you immediately shut it down and heal, the chances of another concussion are similar to those of a person who has never had one. Where you can do damage and really open the door for future and more severe concussions is when you re-injure during the healing process.

There's no way they can bring him back. I guess 2010 earned him the rest of this season but I'd have pulled the plug in march as well.
