No it wasn't. I'm happy with it for the simple fact that he beat the poop out of Boyle. And I'm being 100% serious. I'd give him a contract just for that and that alone.

You didn't answer my question, other than building a team through the waiver wire, what is the correct way to build a team? You can't trade for guys(viznovsky) and you can't draft guys that produce(Tavares) So what is the right way to build a team? Please, explain.

Yea I used to feel that way about the Pierre Turgeon/ Dale hunter hit, but I actully matured

Perhaps that's your next step

Nope. I've never met a Ranger fan that wasn't a complete bumhole. Once I do, maybe I'll change the way I feel about them.

The only "home grown" talent they have that makes a difference is their goalie.

And I'm the last guy on here that will stick up for the moves the Islanders made. They are the worst drafting team in sports and have been for a very long time.

- kencan98

Yeah, cause bailey taken 12th overall and Stepan taken 51st overall are the same player. Stepan would be the Islanders 2nd best player.

But again, what is the right way to build a team? Suck for 20 years a have a slew of top 10 picks only to have 1 pan out?

Stepan would not be the Isles second best player. But yes I would take him over Bailey although Bailey has been much better lately

The entire core of the Islanders is either drafted talent or other teams garbage that turned out to work well besides Nabby, Streit and Lubo.

I can't remember the last time the Islanders brought in a big name UFA and claimed to be the greatest team on earth.

Stepan wouldn't be the second best player on the Islanders.

But I don't disagree with anything else you've said.

I have no idea what the right way to build a team is. I just know that successful teams usually do the same thing and that's draft, develop, and fill in where needed.

Neither the Islanders or the Rangers do that. The Islanders draft people that no one has ever heard of and claim that they are the savior for the franchise. The Rangers spend Donald Trump type money on UFAs. Both teams usually end up with similar results.

Baile has been better since being out on a line with Okposo. But this isn't even about the game tonight. Keacan98 has sayed the Rangers don't draft talent and that trading for talent is frowed upon. So what is the right way to build a team other than doing what the Islanders, Hawks and Pens did by being terrible for a long priod of time.

3 of you top 5 layers. A waiver wire pickup, a trade and UFA signing. So what is the Right way to build a team. Rangers have a good core of defensmen 3 of which were drafted and 1 that has not played professionally in anytoher organization. Captain is drafted and their best center is drafted. But again what is the right way to build a team? You haven't answered it yet.

The Hawks and Pens aren't doing anything close to what the Rangers and Islanders do.

The Hawks and Pens draft and develop and fill in with trades and UFAs. The Rangers are strictly UFA driven. The Islanders are strictly draft driven.

You need a mixture of both.

I haven't answered your question because I've already said that I don't know what the best way to build a team is.

I just look at the teams that are consistently successful and they are usually doing the same thing. That "same thing" is not what either of our teams are doing.

Shout out to the Isles and Isles fans. I'm excited for you boys to finally get back into the post season.

As poorly run as your franchise has been. You seem to be turning the corner and going in the right direction. Keep it up!

Streit and carkner are both UFA signings. Viz is a trade. Boyes is a ufa signing. Rangers don't draft players huh. Guess they had to go habs and leafs of the 50's a buy the leagues Callahan, Hagelin, Staal, DZ, Girardi, Stepan, Mcdonagh and Lundqvist played in as junior players.

Again what is the right way to build a team?

the Pens had 4 years of drafting 1st or 2nd overall. Yeah, they are a model franchise for tanking and getting rewarded for it. You litteraly are talking yourself in circles. Very nice.

I second that! Keep it up. Should be an example to the Edmonton Oilers. You can't win with just top draft picks. You need to have veteran roll players and key veterans in leadership rolls. I was hoping for you to beat the Rangers, but from what I saw from that game, it was a pure playoff game.

Fourth time Ranger fan. Try Phonics. I DON'T KNOW!

The only player out of every one you've mentioned that means anything to the team is Lundqvist.

With all do respect I wouldn't mind having Callahan on the team. Reminds me of an older Cizikas. They do need scoring desperately though

Walking up to the podium and saying a name through a microphone has nothing to do with turning a player into a NHL talent.

Okposo in the Devils organization probably would have been a very good player.

Development is much more important than pictures on draft day.
