It is not about being a "sabres king" just about paying attention to hockey.
Here this will help

Just because they play in Rochester that means they should get a callup??? - toddkac
Where in that article does it say how many college kids immediately jump to pro without spending any time in the minors?
I bet most of them spent time in the minors.
And yet again, you are missing my point. You are completely off base.
My point was on organizational depth at one position: defense. Kids who have been playing pro all season or for a few seasons now (Biega, Schiestel) now seemingly have zero shot at making an NHL roster, at least in Buffalo, if the message is that some kid that just wrapped up his final exams, AS A JUNIOR, is a better option than the other kids who are down on the farm paying their dues.

I dont need to convince anyone. It is clear to me Regier and the scouting staff feel the AHL players either don´t deserve the callup or are just not good enough.
The management must also feel the player out of college is progressed farther along then the players in the AHL.
To just keep proposing the question Why Why Why is....you have your answer why.
Keep asking maybe it will be a different solution next time |

Yeah, because based on all the success they've had we can trust them to make the right decisions. |

The CBA defines an "accrued season" as games on the active roster, NOT games played. Therefore 27 games on active roster = accrued season. He's lost a year.
I'm willing to bet that Darcy was confused with the CBA language, as McKenzie and some of us are about this whole situation. Thats why he sent Grigorenko back at 22 games played, thinking he was probably safe from an accrued season. - theblueandgold
Well if that's the case.....Lamourello (frank)ed up too with Matteau. So Darcy wasn't the only one confused by the CBA language. |

I believe they only have one call up left. This preserves it. - Zeebadaboodee
If a player is on injured reserve, I think that one call up rule doesn't apply. |

Lou said he was going to keep matteau up even though it would use up a year on his ELC and bring him closer to UFA

Ok.....thanks for clearing up such. I wasn't really sure and hadn't read in depth. I assumed that it was the same scenario trying to dodge UFA status. |

I have 100% faith in Darcy, I am glad I am on this side of the fence instead of your side. - toddkac
next year, I have no doubt Darcy will make a 100% effort in turning this team around. Just wait until the draft before you judge - toddkac

I think you're both right/wrong.
There is nothing wrong with having a college kid come right up. The Amerks are heading into the playoffs. Maybe they don't want to disrupt a good season to help their disaster season. Though it's possible that this kid is better than the options in Rochester, I doubt it. JGL could step in and play here. Biega might not reach his potential, but he could fill in for the rest of the season.
I hope that they are playing him in an effort to embrace the TANK. The guys in Rochester are playing a similar system. System is much more important for defensemen than forwards. So, by bringing in this inexperienced kid, they get to take a look at how he handles it, and if he works out, great! If he doesn't, well, he's young and needs more time, and needs to learn the system. He makes our defense worse (if that's possible).
If we lose, we really win. |

On a lighter note... Often, in these blogs and message boards, the topic of "Best Movies", makes the rounds. I just watched a classic that always gets overlooked. To make everyone smile for about 90 minutes, please find "Tin Men", starring Richard Dreyfuss and Danny DeVito. ROTFLMAO!!!! I forgot how funny this movie truly is.... enjoy!

When it comes to filling out an NHL roster I don´t think the Buffalo Sabres care if a player adds chemistry to the AHL team. I would lose faith in my GM if it was more important to have a good AHL roster then NHL roster. |

there is nothing more solid then this....it is not about trust but it is the reason.

And my point was that the organizational depth at "D", after the players that are already here or the two that will be here (McNabb, McCabe), SUCKS!
Why is that so hard to understand? |

sure that was your point.....your right you were not asking why no one from AHL was getting called up.
The question you should be asking is if our depth is so poor then why did Regier trade for a goalie instead if a defenceman. |

That's one small detail of my post. The point is that a call up would be a smoother transition than throwing in the college kid. By not icing their best possible line up, they are indirectly throwing the game without any of the players laying down. |

That was my first post, until you completely changed MY topic.
I said that we should be asking for some D-men in return (if we make trades) this summer, because if they are suiting up a kid straight from his geology exam room, instead of giving a couple guys in Rochester a chance to show what they can do for a handful of games at the end of a meaningless season, then our organizational depth at D isn't very good.
And then you went off on some other tangent.
