An extra game doesnt affect anything. Hes already past that limit. Hes already burned a year in which we couldve used it later because he didnt play a full season.
Technically, long term, wasting a year is bringing him closer to UFA 1 year earlier than he otherwise would have, but he will still be an RFA.
Think about if he was ready to play in the NHL, and was here anyway. He would still be an RFA at the end of 3 years regardless. After that contract, depending on length is when he would become UFA. So essentially, burning a year off his ELC in a year he didnt play the all of it, in long term brings him closer to UFA 1 year early. - theblueandgold
are you 100% sure, because this is not what they said on WGR nor how it was explained to me.
I'm not saying I know I'm right because I don't, just going off what Ive heard on the radio and been told. |

Tell you what, guys.
If our organization is that bad off with defensemen not already up here (minus McNabb and McCabe, of course), they'd better insist on some d-men coming back in any trades they make this summer. |

No offense Homer, but Bob McKenzie and Craig Button already cleared this up when Grigs was sent down. It wasn't games played, it was games on the active roster.
He HAS already used up a year of eligibilty.
I'll try and find the link for you if I can. - Powerslave
I year of his contract but not a year of his UFA elgibility |

So can he play a few games in rochester and make no difference or does buffalo or rochester not count different?
Does anyone know how armia's team is doing? Could he be reporting really soon? |

Grigorenko can play in Buffalo or Rochester with no further complications.
He was on the active roster for 27 games. Under free agency calculations for Group III (Unrestricted) free agents, the requirements for an "accrued season" (in a shortened season) is 23 games. So therefore, he has acquired an "accrued season" towards his UFA status.
All that means is that this year we burned the first year of his ELC. He will still be an RFA at the end of this contract, which is 2 years from now. Depending on the length of that contract (if he receives a 1 yr or 2 yr deal, he will still be a RFA, but if he receives say a 4 year deal, he will then become a UFA) is what determines when he will be a UFA. If he was on our roster for 22 games, he couldve been sent back to juniors, and his ELC deal would have earned a "slide". |

this is correct except he has only played 22 games so 1 more makes him lose a yr towards ufa |

Since coming back from injury...
Armia has led his team from 12th place, all the way to the league finals...
He prob won't make any reg season games, but could be here for the playoffs in Rochester |

I'm talking our organizational depth, NOT guys that will be or are in Buffalo.
If they can't trust guys like Biega, Schiestel or Leduc - guys who have been playing pro all season - TO PLAY A HANDFUL OF GAMES AT THE END OF A MEANINGLESS SEASON over a guy straight from the damn college campus, it says something. |

He has already lost a year. Not playing him for the rest of the season in the NHL wont keep him from "losing a year towards UFA".
It does not go by games played. It goes by games on the active roster. He was on the active roster for 27 games (healthy scratch for a number of games). Therefore, he loses a year off his ELC, which "technically" brings him a year closer to UFA. He will still be an RFA in 2 years. |
