It's still baffling that they are starting a college player instead of a callup. - sippyd
Maybe part of getting him to sign w us was some kind of agreement that he'd get to play for Buffalo for the rest of the season? |

The fact that the Flyers suck with a roster that is pretty good gives me hope. Maybe this shortened season is just a crock. There's always next year. |

thats what i was thinking to myself, theres NO ONE better in Rochester? Biega? Gauthier-Leduc? Schiestel?
Seems strange they would sign another defender out of college, no ahl experience, and just throw him to the wolves - qcstudios
nope, there isnt. |

Sabres motto for rest of this season MUST be "Losin' for Drouin" ...tank baby tank! If Briere is bought out this offseason, go get him and bring him back home to mentor the youngin's! He played well with Vanek before and Villy Laimo...try that out as your top line for 2013-14....if Villie continues to suck, buy him out next offseason.
Trade Miller and see if some combination of Enroth, Leggio , or the new kid from Minnesota (forgot his name already, sucks to get older) are capable of handling major minutes and develop into a solid goaltender.
Package Stafford and Minnie's2013 #1 for a higher #1 this year ..and jump start the rebuild...and finish the dismantling of the old core. Insist Meyers and Griggy join Hodgson at the Gordy Roberts Summwr Program to build strength, endurance and other benefits like leadership and personal commitment!
I'm available to run the hockey department Terry, I'll keep Darcy on retainer to complete deals at Draft and Trade Deadline timeframes....he's solid there to execute the 2 trades we will need for each of the next 2-3 years to complete the rebuild to a Stanley Cup winner...but I'll define the player chareteristics needed...like for now...let's go get more heart and determination to win players like Steve Ott. I need two (2) years Terry, the fire my a$$ if not completely satisfied with the RESULTS not promises,,,, - IonSabres
You're available to run the hockey department?!?
You can't even spell "Ville" correctly, or even the same way TWICE.
Just sayin.

......schools in session. Fact is I have no expectations on his accumulation of points. BUT effort yes I do.....he is a professional athlete and is paid well to show up and at least look like he is giving an effort and when he is not he should be called out for it rookie or not. - twistedwrister9

IDK if Garth understands or not but Grigorenko is not coming up this year. If he plays one more games this year then he becomes a UFA a year sooner. It wasnt by mistake they send him back when they did. |

I believe they only have one call up left. This preserves it. - Zeebadaboodee
They are down to 5 healthy defensemen.
This would be an emergency call-up, if they chose a guy from Rochester. Wouldn't count against regular call-ups. |

I remember reading that Darcy (frank)ed that up for sure. A year is already burned off his contract, but it has no regards to being a year closer to UFA, since after his ELC he will be a RFA. He was here for 27 games and I think 24 games was the cut off.
They admitted that mistake on Friday when they announced that they have sent 2012 first-round draft pick Mikhail Grigorenko back to the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL after 22 NHL games.
Why is this a mistake? Let's recap.
• The Sabres kept Grigorenko on the NHL roster for 22 games, burning a year off his entry-level contract in a shortened season on a bad team that isn't going to the playoffs. They could have given him a tryout of up to five games and sent him back then without having to use up a year of his initial entry-level contract.

No offense Homer, but Bob McKenzie and Craig Button already cleared this up when Grigs was sent down. It wasn't games played, it was games on the active roster.
He HAS already used up a year of eligibilty.
I'll try and find the link for you if I can. |

he may have been up for 27 games, but he only played 22.
Yes, he burned a year off his ELC but playing that 23rd game would have affected when he became a UFA. |

An extra game doesnt affect anything. Hes already past that limit. Hes already burned a year in which we couldve used it later because he didnt play a full season.
Technically, long term, wasting a year is bringing him closer to UFA 1 year earlier than he otherwise would have, but he will still be an RFA.
Think about if he was ready to play in the NHL, and was here anyway. He would still be an RFA at the end of 3 years regardless. After that contract, depending on length is when he would become UFA. So essentially, burning a year off his ELC in a year he didnt play the all of it, in long term brings him closer to UFA 1 year early. |

Your right I don't get it......guess I'm wrong for expecting some accountability from players. Because by your assessment he's a rookie and it's ok and or should be expected. |
