Irony coming from a Pens fan. What happens when Crosby, Malkin, Letang and Fleury leave or retire? And your starter is Andy Chiodo again? - FloRidaCats
They'll become what the Panthers are now if it all were to happen at once |

Bring back the Nordiques! I remember some of those Battle of Quebec games, they were amazing. They need to do like the Jets and bring back the old name and the old uniform. Going to an NHL game in Quebec City would be amazing. |

Come to think of it, the Yotes situation hasn't progressed in a while. Could it be a catalyst? |

Lol. Wut? I'm way off base? Does the city of Seattle have an agreement with an NBA team to return?
Because they can't even break ground on a new arena until that happens. Unless of course the article that was posted 3 days ago is wrong and you're somehow right, even though I lived in that area and followed along quite closely.
Seattle is passionate about their teams? No they're not. They care about the SEAHAWKS. That's IT.
No other team from that area will win anything, ever. Because? Because they won't spend the money to compete, because they don't draw the business. Duh. - NorCalAvsFan
Sonics fans are a big part of the city sports culture. They were not responsible for the relocation. I hope the Kings end up going to Seattle. They deserve it. |

32 teams sucks for a league that hasn't gotten stable with 30 teams yet.
QC would be great for me as a spectator, but I'm torn, because 32 teams would hurt the stability of the league. Also, I'd worry about losing guys to the expansion draft! - Morris

Look at the new divisions ... Why are Tampa and Florida in the north east division .... Perhaps the relocation of stamkos to Ontario ( Toronto 2 or hamilton ) and huberdeau to Quebec City .... Then the divisions make sense..... Not saying it's going to happen but ... - Redmile247
Florida and Tampa have to travel north for every division game. It's unfair since we have the worst travel in the league next year. Makes no sense that Wash and Carolina aren't in our division.
Our division is going to be great tho, once we have a healthy team again and with the addition of all our youth and potentially having Seth Jones or Drouin on the roster next year things are very exciting in Florida. Markstrom in goal, man we project to be very good, petrovic and matheson on D along with Gudy kulikov and Campbell. It's going to be Toronto and Florida at the top for years to come.
Or I could be dreaming and all our guys could turn into busts and we will be dead last with Detroit and Boston just owning everyone in the division. Montreal too. |

What the heck does that mean? You'll always be the 2nd California team to win the Stanley Cup. - ducks31
Yeah, because when people mention the Kings winning the Cup, they always preface it with the second California team.
When are you guys going to change your name to the Los Angeles Ducks of Anaheim btw? |

Just be happy both your teams have won Cups. We are still searching for one..... |

and lets be fair. The ducks had a lot of seasoning playing in district 5 then in world juniors playing a tough iceland team. They had the experience and it translated to the NHL. It just takes longer for other teams when they don't have that experience. Also, Hans supplied the team with top of the line equipment, they had an edge. |

Hartford ain't happening - Fountain-San
No, you guys are right- Fort Lauderdale is such a better hockey market . So is Nashville . I'll bet the Whalers fan club still has more members than you'll see in either of those buildings. The ancient building IS a sh*thole, and the city is, too- but I bet if they put a suitable building in the area somewhere, it'd be a lot more full than....most of the buildings south of DC. Just a guess....because it snows there, and the ponds turn to ice and stuff . |

I agree the travel isn't fair within the division but I think it's about time a team in the east got shafted , look at the travel teams like Detroit and Vancouver have had to do in the past .... One long road trip and they have travelled the equivilant of an entire rangers year lol ... Maybe not .... but it's a reasonable theory |

this coming from an Islanders fan>???? I was just at the Islanders game: here's a few comments on the team and that building:
Nassau is a complete joke. The arena should be knocked down and there was absolutely no one in the stands. That says a lot about a team on the cusp of a playoff spot. Islander fans don't show up so you have no right to talk about anyone else's market.
Islanders should be the first team to be relocated. Hartford would be excellent.
Here's to watching your team blow it's load the final 8 games of the year to miss out once again....
see you soon in Florida on the links. - BallardHitsHard22
My city of Markham would love to have the Islanders. I'd certainly take them over the Yotes or the Blue Jackets. |

Move Fla to Que and TB to markham and then that division makes sense geographically |

It always amazed me that Julie "The Cat" Gaffney never started in goal. Goldberg was the worst player on the team. It took me years to realize Coach Bombay was sexist. |

Quebec city is very poor, so the general population will not be able to support the team. If that is the case then they need corporate support, and they have very little corporate support for over a year or two. This whole notion of another team in Quebec City is a romantic one, it is not economically feasible to put a pro sports franchise in a city that cannot support it, where players do not want to live, where taxes are much higher then any other city in North America.
I won't even go into depth about the current language issues, but that just seals the deal even further.
The notion of a pro team in QC is not realistic whatsoever.

You snot-nosed kids today need to quit your belly-aching.
You think the NHL teams today have it rough?
The Dawson City Nuggets (also known as the Klondikes) were a hockey team from Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada that challenged the reigning champion Ottawa Hockey Club, aka "The Silver Seven," in January 1905, for the Stanley Cup. They suffered the most lopsided single-game defeat in the history of Stanley Cup play.
Sponsored by the Klondike entrepreneur Joseph W. Boyle from men of the mining camps during the tailend of the Yukon gold rush, the Nuggets travelled an epic month-long voyage by dog sled, approximately 600 km from Dawson to Whitehorse, narrow gauge rail from Whitehorse to Skagway, ship from Skagway to Vancouver, and train from Vancouver to Ottawa in time for the games. The team had only one bona-fide player, ex-Ottawa star Weldy Young, but he was unable to make it to Ottawa in time, delayed in Dawson City as an election official. Exhausted by the trip and without Young, they lost the first game of the two-game total goal series 9-2, and the second 23-2, in which Ottawa star Frank McGee set a record that still stands by scoring fourteen goals (see Ottawa vs. Dawson City). The team then played a series of exhibition games in the east before returning to the Yukon. |
