Relocate -go for it; expansion -H*ll No!!!. The talent pool is already way too diluted. We would be better off with a couple teams merging and moving. 28 teams is okay , but we would have way better hockey with 24. And please get rid of this shoot-out crap and bring back ties- this ain't soccer , it's hockey and we have had our own traditions that Mr Buttman fails to realize is what made the game great and could put more fans back in the stands.

"Every one of the NHL’s 30 teams would be hurt by a lockout next season, but Florida and Los Angeles are the two most in need of continued play. The two teams are up against some of the NBA’s most popular franchises, and they play in warm weather climates where hockey has traditionally been a difficult sell. A lockout would theoretically make the NHL more profitable for team owners, but for Florida and Los Angeles, it would completely erase two success stories long in the making."
That's where you got your little quote from. It was taken out of context. I'll ask you a question. Take as much time as you need to answer. Ready? Here goes.
How many time have the penguins been in danger of relocating or bankruptcy? - Deadmau55
What does that have to do with the Kings losing money? According to Wikipedia, the Penguins "looked like they might relocate" a couple of times in the 70's and 80's and filed for bankruptcy in the late 90's. I've never disputed this fact. It's no secret the Penguins had financial issues. What team hasn't? Like I said, even the Cup winning Kings continue to bleed money. You and the Panther's fan can't accept the fact that your favourite teams are losing millions of dollars so you deflect and bring up other teams that have lost money in the past. It's OK, I was insecure in middle school too.

Why not just move Phx no one wants them there and bettman didn't hesitate to rip the thrashers out of atlanta. Then u take one of the big reasons for money loss and move them to a thriving market

His favorite team probably sucks. - Pecafan Fan
Talent isn't a problem.
Calgary and Florida have few good players, and sucks. Edmonton and Tampa bay have good players, but still suck. Philadelphia and the Rangers have loads of good players and were good but now aren't very good. The isles have one truly great player and they're in the playoffs. Columbus has few players of note and they're making a strong push for the playoffs.
Teams of all walks can do anything, big budget or small.

Lot of numbers to work with. The cost of creating a team vs. projected revenue.
Quebec would be a sick market and so would Seattle. I'm salivating at the idea of Quebec/Montreal and Seattle/Vancouver rivalries. Sounds like potential revenue in either case.

You know soccer has ties right, and like it or not the shootout helped save the league post lockout.
