(frank) carter and richards.

But you have to admit they are pretty much lighting it up this year in LA.

Sorry Timonen is not an A. He is doing ok but is responsible for a lot of defensive errors. Was on for both goals against last night. Makes up for it on the PP. My view is a B at best.
I think you are a bit hard on Coburn.

- strongsupporter

re Timonen, I hear you but he is playing hurt and is being overused at this point, plus imagine where they would be without him.

re Coburn; we'll have to just agree to disagree, I think he has been terrible this season.

Gagne: B Doesn't have the explosiveness he had in his younger days, but is still a consummate professional who plays smart in all 3 zones and sets a great example for the younger players.

- BiggE

Funny, I would call him the most explosive player these days..

This is exactly why I completely disregard the Flyers ranking at/near the top of the PP stats this year. Too often the PP fails to come through when needed.

Which injuries are those? Do you know?

He has been playing with a foot injury all season, the guy is a warrior.

Flyers need to lose the rest of the games. I hope Briere comes back and sucks the life out of them.

I want Drouin

You're going to have to hit the lottery or hope he takes a tumble out of the top three.

Honestly, I don't care

Voracek - 40 GP 17-22-39
Carter - 41 GP 24-5-29
Richards 40 GP 10-18-28
Simmonds - 37 GP 12-13-25
Schenn - 39 GP 7-15-22
Couturier - 38 GP 3-9-12

And now the forwards

Hartnell: D- Dumb penalties, bad turnovers, poor positioning, what more needs to be said. If it wasn't for Coburn, he would be the biggest disappointment on the team

Rinaldo: A- The most improved player on the team, his discipline and ability to consistently draw penalties has been great, and his hitting is phenomenal. Why he doesn't get more ice time is yet another reason this team needs a new coach.

Laviolette: F Where do I begin? Refusal to adjust his system to his talent until way too late; his constant poor judgement regarding the goaltenders; not holding veteran players accountable when they consistently make the same mistakes over and over again; his poor use of Couturier??? Laviolette may be a good coach overall, but he has simply done a terrible job this season.

- BiggE

I agree with your grade on Hartnell, but it's worth mentioning that he did miss time with a broken foot. I wonder if the foot or something else is impacting him. He's been a part of the 3 best line combos the Flyers have had in the past 6 or so years, so we know how good Hartnell is. I wonder if he came into the season in poor shape or something.

And while I love Rinaldo's work this year, I think Voracek is the team's most improved player. He was dominant at times. If he can a touch more consistent, he is going to be an all-star game fixture.

As for Laviolette, I agree with that grade as well. If Lavvy makes it through to opening night 2013-14, I wonder how long of a leash he will have.

The best forwards play center in junior/college for the most part. That doesn't mean that's where they'll play in the NHL. You just grab the best guy.

So I have been off the grid this week due to some personal stuff, but did I see something about a whistleblower in the locker room? Someone leaking stuff out?

Both Voracek and Carter are top line players -- they're a wash. Add in Couturier and it's been an absolute heist for the Flyers.

Do you mean "top line" as in the 1st line?

Because I'm pretty sure Carter's playing on the 2nd line in LA.

(frank) carter and richards. Seriously who the hell cares anymore. I have no problem with the return of Voracek Couturier, Cousins, Schenn, Simmonds and Grossmann (aquired with one of the picks) for frick and frack. I appreciate what they did when they were here but seriously who cares anymore

They're both 1st line capable players. L.A. is loaded up front.

Hear hear. I'll admit, I cringed at the whole 'won the cup right after we dumped them' thing, but the wailing and gnashing of teeth is so childish at this point. Anything to kick the franchise while its down, I suppose.

I get so frustrated with the whining. Its like all of the people who wanted JRV gone when he didn't come out of college after 1 year, then wanted him gone again when he didn't develop as fast as one would hope....are now the same people whining about JVR being traded. just makes me crazy.
